Only thing surprising here is this is even newsworthy. Consoles from all the major players is constantly in development. Before the X1X was shown Im sure MS had started the process on the X2.
Exactly, all your major players, whether mobile or desktop. Have all said its becoming increasingly difficult to make things smaller, faster and more efficient. Difficulty is just another word for costs money. Moores Law was never going to be infinite. Until a major breakthrough in chip technology, the speed, the size and costs are not following the same trajectory as 10 years ago.

Next year we'll get a teaser and it'll release November 2019 is my guess. Because I think ms teases the Xbox2 in 19 and releases it in 20. I do believe both consoles go with similar business models from here forward. Ps5 comes out in 19 and will be BC to the PS4. And obviously MS will be doing the same. With mid gen upgrades every 3 years and "generations" only being 6 years. Next cycle I think Sony/MS will leave it up to devs if they wish to make a game mid-gen exclusive or...
As the power grows, the games can look more real but at the same time they look less realistic at the same time. For example I remember playing madden 92 and bill Walsh college football. Had a great time playing with myself or vs friends. Today's games look and play better obviously. What is sell poorly? Yours, mine and MS definition of poor is probably all different. MS has said from the get go this isn't for everyone. So I'm sure they define it differently than we do. My best guess is it will sell 1 to every 4 or 5 Xbox 1S'

This game looks so boring to me. Great for those who may enjoy it but don't expect a sequel is my guess. Big flop.
If they could ever figure out the whole upgradable hardware. Bring PC to consoles. If they could make upgrading RAM and video cards as easy as putting in a thumb drive that could be the future.

@Inzo, no but in 3 years ms will undoubtably release another console. Then the 1X will be like the og X1 is now. MS doesn't make their consoles for generations per se anymore. They are closer aligned to the PC world. In 5 years Xbox games will say you need atleast this model to play this game.
MS isn't competing generationally. They already said this over and over again. If you want to say sony "won" then so be it. But ms' business model is different than Sonys.
Our gaming entertainment while mainstream now. I can't help but scream nerds in my head when you guys fight over who won something that wasn't even a competition but essentially a commercial for a company. Then you go right into salez arguments and only make it worse. I've enjoyed gaming for over 30 years and if you get joy from something another company may be doing wrong and hurting gamers you're worse than the company doing it.
MS said it themselves over and over again that the X1X was not a mid gen console. But the beginning of their new business model. And if developers don't get behind this idea from the get go they will go back to being a generational product. I was backing the idea initially and was on board the hype train but now I can't see why to purchase it. MS and it's partners along with third party have yet to sell me on a reason I must have this.

Console releases are to long as it is. X2 should be out by 2020 and the PS5 should be releasing no later than November of 2019.
