Thats why EA is/was doing this. The company is already huge. It needs to be bigger every year. Its a publically traded company. If it doesnt show growth year over year, investors could leave thus lowering their stock price.
How is another system being released ever a reason for anyone to worry? The only reason to “worry” is if the product is a next generational product to the one you currently own then yes, u may want to worry. But thats the only way one shpuld “worry”.
It is a new console, it is and also isnt next gen. MS has said many times over that they were done with generations. This is their new model for the xbox. In 3 years there will be another console and 3 years after that another. Each new console being able to play the previous consoles games and some of the older consoles able to play newer games. Similar to how PC works.
Take lead of what and how? If this is the beginning of a no generational product, what is there to take a lead on? When the PS5 comes out in a few years and a year or so later the next xbox what is there to compare? The timelines would be off to have any type of salez conversation. Its worth it to me when games like madden, COD, battlefield, star wars, etc all are the definitive versions on X1X. When they look that much better than my pro, ill scoop it up. I was impressed by how much better GeOW3 looked on the 1X though. If they all games do that it may be worth it.

When first shown 2 E3s back i was kinda psyched. Now its kinda filtered off. I was a day 1 buy but now im taking the wait and see approach. I need to see more and more multis making it worth it. Right now i personally dont see the value yet. With a pro and an 1S, i need to see where its worth the upgrade.

@dirty, i understood your point until you mentioned sea of thieves. That game is going to crash so hard. Ive never talked to a buddy who was excited or even knew about that game.
This was the title i was waiting on to see visuals on the X. If the X looks Just like the pro and S like the video here. Im not buying the X. Reason being everyone says multis are going to be so much better on the X. One of the first big releases on the X need to sell me on why i should go out and buy the X.
Any transaction after the purchase of a AAA game or full retail game purchase should be only superficial. If i start seeing more games come out and the micro transactions actually take away from the main game, its time to possibly change how i game or find a new hobby. The nickle and diming wont happen to me. Been gaming over 30 years. I love playing with the kiddos but at some point we all just have to question it all.

Generations are far to long with the technological advances. Industry moving towards mid gen upgrades is the answer imo. They need to start moving towards something closer to PC though, so each new iteration can have the “maxed out” version but they still work on previous made consoles just wont have ultra settings. Each console iteration lasting at most 3 years. So 2019 would be PS5 and 2022 the ps5 pro.

Here's my take. Sony has won every battle. MS continues to make xboxes and keeping Xbox Live up and running. All the while continuing to put R&D money into the future of Xbox. I find it disappointing there is even a destiny 2. Destiny 1 was supposed to a 10 year game and had so many issues I understand why they made a second. But like most things in life now everything is either the greatest ever or not worth doing or making at all.
