Actually, nobody started having problems with any Final Fantasy games until right around 10.
You also need to compare FFXIII with SquareSoft's other older franchises which were coming out at the same time back in the '90s. Games like ChronoTrigger and Xenogears make FFXIII look like Pac-Man.
The only way you can like FFXIII is if you didn't experience the earlier entries on the SNES or PS1. FFXIII isn't even in the same league as FFVI....it didn't even feel like Final Fantasy.
I can honestly see how it could have been incredible...you can tell they had to cut out tons of storytelling and background cinematics and replace it with those horrible journal entries. Not to mention that it's just way to convenient that the whole game is linear with no ...
I don't know why they would need a special event to announce that a title would not be coming to the 360...
Can they not create anything original anymore? All we get are remakes, sequels, and portable games.
Where are the Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, or Vagrant Stories of our time?
How did this happen to you Squaresoft?
Um...because if they bring those soldiers home, the Taliban marches right back in and takes control. This in turn creates a great environment for Al Quaeda to reorganize and plan their next attack on the US.
Please stop whining and realize that your freedom is not free.
I doubt they would remake any of the PS1 Final Fantasies...want to know why? Just a theory, but notice how all the Final Fantasies that were on Nintendo systems have only been remade on Nintendo systems.
Well, if they continue that principle, they would have to remake Sony FFs on Sony systems......and we all KNOW that Square/Enix just can't stand to give Sony something exclusive.
It looks like most of the cutscenes in the new DMC will be about Dante cutting himself. (I would to if I looked like that)
The PS2 was good but nothing compared to the golden age of the SNES. Of course, that was back when people made games because they loved what they did.....not to make Bobby Kotick another million bucks by remaking the same game over and over with a different skin for the gaming "sheeple"; or compromising the integrity of an epic game to water it down for a Microsoft moneyhat.
I must admit, mine goes without playing for months on end, but every time I get that sleek little machine out, I marvel at how awesome it still is and how far ahead of it's time it was when it came out.
Haha, I remember when I saw this weeks MediaCreate numbers thinking it was only a matter of time before someone tried to put this spin on those crappy numbers.
FFXIII could have been incredible if they had kept concentrating on maxing out a Blu-ray disc. This is what happens when you accept the moneyhat from Microsoft....your'e left out to dry as soon as they mark you off the list of stolen PS3 exclusives.
Squaresoft, please come back to us..........
My 60GB is still running great! Although, now it's a 250GB :)
Saturn Valley from Earthbound. :)
I have to admit it would be the ultimate anti-Microsoft alliance.
Same thing they did to the incredible looking "Chrono Resurrection".
Square used to be so awesome in the old days....all the sudden, they would just release a new IP out of nowhere and it would always kick ass!!
You would go into a store, take a look at the game section....and be like, "What the heck is "Secret of Mana".....oh it's by Squaresoft; that means I don't need to do any research to find out if this game is good; I can buy it now."
It's just so sad now....
Not to take away from these 2 games (because they are both awesome), but maybe, just maybe, this shows how starved people are for some good RPGs.
I'm honestly not trying to sound condescending to younger gamers here, I'm 28, myself), but comparing today's games to the RPGs of the '90s is like comparing "Twilight" to the "Lord of the Rings"....they aren't even the same league. You really have no idea of how incredible an RPG can be if you don't go back to the PS1 and SNES era of gaming. These were the golden years of RPGs. There was no such thing as "JRPG" and "WRPG" in ...
None of the RPGs of the last 4 years have come close to the cinimatic intensity of the best Squaresoft games of the '90s. Nobody even comes close to ChronoTrigger, Final Fantasy VI (It was called III in the US),Xenogears, etc.
In those days people made games because they loved to tell a great story and back it up with an incredible soundtrack. Those are the games that you remember your whole life and look back on.
"Which is better: Short or long video games?
I think you meant:
"Which ARE better: Short or long video games?"
