God help us all....we went from iconic classics like Castlevania and Ogre Battle to "Let's Cheer"....
My beloved and once pure gaming industry has finally sold out. I don't give a crap what anyone is going to say about "profiting from different demographics" or whatever business logic you want to give.
It used to be about making the best game you could with the limits of the hardware given and it was a matter of pride when your st...
I just about crapped my pants laughing at that video. He's a "wawia"!
I don't even think it's worth $19.34...
They need to prove to me that they can still make good, original games before they try remaking something like VII, otherwise, I just see them screwing it up bad.
Also, I never really noticed before, but seeing that picture of all the characters at the top...they just don't look as cool as I used to think...almost too cartoony. I can't quite put my finger on what it is.
Honestly, though, if there was ever an epic game in need of a modernization, it...
There actually is a version of this you can play on PS3. Chrono Trigger was re-released for the PS1 as part of Final Fantasy Chronicles which includes both Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger with cutscenes added.
They had a chance to make the equivalent of FF VII with XIII being the first entry in this console gen, but just plain sold out by dumbing it down to make it multi-platform and focusing on trying to appeal to ADD-FPS fans.
I can never feel the same way about Square again and I certainly will never buy anymore of their games on day 1, without renting first.
The Legend of Dragoon 2. Make it happen, Sony!
XII would have been insanely epic except that the director,Matsuno, had to leave before it was done. This is why the story just never feels finished and all of the characters seem so generic and all learn the same skills.
Many of the character development problems were later fixed with the international version, "Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System", but hardly anyone knows about that.
In reply to the above reply to my comment:
I must say that I also found Gau, Strago, and Relm my least favorite characters because of their abilities compared to the others (it is useful to have them all together though to learn Blue Magic on the Veldt since Gau will sometimes cast one, himself, and Relm can trigger it through painting an enemy).
I think that one reason these were necessary is that FF VI is one of the few in the series that forces you to use ...
I must say I have to disagree with your opinion of VI for the exact reason that you stated. I thought that VI was one of the few Final Fantasy games where each character actually HAD some sort of unique ability to make them stand out, even though everyone could learn all of the spells. Their individual abilities like Blitz, Morph, Runic, etc were extremely good.
I felt that most of the FFs after VI lost that factor to make each character unique in battle, basically bringing...
Because that means you must not have played VI (it was called III on SNES in North America). Not only is it the best Final Fantasy....it's just one of the greatest games ever made at all.
Squaresoft never published shit games (ok, maybe The Bouncer). Don't settle for less than perfect when they can achieve far more.
I'm all for more JRPGs. The problem with the majority of these titles is that they just won't have the impact of the Epic games of the 90s.
None of those titles is the next Chrono Trigger.
You are completely, absolutely correct. I also find it interesting that Final Fantasy's art direction for locations, characters, and monsters used to be actually hold a closer resemblance to today's western RPGs before the PS1 era.
JRPGs were incredible until the following three problems happened:
1. Squaresoft had to merge with Enix to stay solvent.
2. The "new guys in charge" at Square-Enix made quick money and "reaching the masses" more important than the only thing that ever mattered: an incredibly deep story with a huge explorable world. Their best employees (such as Sakaguchi) saw this trend and left. This short-term vision will hurt them in the long-run.
3. Mi...
Wow dude...the propaganda has just completely brainwashed you, huh...
Bin Laden was about as innocent as the devil. And you can look to him if you want someone to blame for killing civilians, since Al Qaeda (you know, that little terrorist organization your innocent man created) claims responsibility for attacks on civilians in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq as well as Western countries.
Oh, one other flaw in your logic....the foreign armies weren't in ...
Anonymous had already stated they were not responsible for this attack.
His point was mainly that Sony's information should have no claim by the general public because it was private property.
These rumors were what made talking about old-school games with your friends so fun. Everybody knew the one guy who was like a god at games and possessed the hidden knowledge that us lesser mortals were not entitled to.
There was once a time when studios made games with an objective of making them the best they could possibly be. They took pride in their work and it pained them to have to cut content because the disc space was too low. If one platform had more ability than another, than the game was only made on the better platform. This is why the older systems have such different libraries (SNES vs. Sega Genesis, PS1 vs. N64).
I'm sure most of the younger gamers here don't know it...
