Did I miss something? Are Microsoft and Nintendo giving away their games and consoles for free now? Did they stop charging for online? Stop putting services behind pay walls? Oh no they havent? It's almost as if they are for making a profit to. At least with my ps4 I have a large selection of exclusive games to play. Oh no cross platform play (well no cross console) how will I ever survive! I guess I'll just have to hope that a few other people the Sony's 60+ million customers are...

I think everyone is missing who to actually blame here. Yes Best Buy charged when they historically have not. Yes the valuation is questionable at best. Why don't we start blaming devs for attaching things like betas or extra content to preorders? Because it's been going on so long its OK?

Exactly. People are just pissed that they preordered and canceled as soon as they received a beta code. Could have waited an extra 3 days but they didn't. It's in best buys terms and they decided to finally enforce it.
Actually in the terms it states that if you receive a promotional gift before you receive the item, and cancel said item you may be charged the price of the gift. The real question is how they came to an actual valuation of the beta.

It's not for canceling a pre-order it's for the "value" of the beta. Best buy states in their policies that if you receive a gift or promo as part of a pre-order and cancel you can be charged the value of the gift. The problem is the value of the beta on their own website shows as 1cent not 20$
@admiral I understand that. My statement was more in regards to on Best buys own site it's value is a penny. Should be an easy screenshot and dispute with your credit card company
To be fair you could do that at best buy until now as well.
Actually if you look at the bonus for Destiny the pre order early access code is only valued as 1cent.
