I wouldn't say sure purchase, and it still won't be like Origins (gameplay is still faster, and healers are gone, plus I haven't heard anything of separate beginnings based on character choice).
But I don't think anyone doubts it'll be a big step up from DA2. Just the fact that I can zoom out to a proper distance is big improvement for me.
Why go there? Dragon Age's length doesn't make the Witcher a worse or better game.
The DA series has had mark of the assassin and awakening as the_dark_one stated. Those were examples of extra content done right.
Let's give praise where it's due instead of the usual cynical 'it's EA so it can't be any good'-rant.
Plus, at this point in development, everyone who is capable is working on finetuning, and getting ready for shipping. For people such as writers or designers, their job for the main game is done. Whatever t...
flamebait much?
Get over it.
I agree, even in the real world there are entire countries where barely anyone knows how to swim, I don't find it hard to get this to fit. Plus the water adds a way to create separate areas and more defined pathways into the map.
You are as bad as those comparing to the Witcher series. Compare a party-based rpg with other party-based rpg's if you must.
Since when is Diablo 3 multiplayer?
Anyways, this might paint the wrong picture. Multiplayer sessions are always online, and thus always recorder, single player sessions aren't.
And it's only with users that have Overwolf apps. Which are mainly used for chatting, teamspeak, twitch streaming, ...
This article is just so wrong.
You, sir, have never played with a painting.
That's because it is the pc version with an xbox controller. The UI changes with the chosen input device.
Look at pc version... with a controller. Still haven't seen a single vid of Inquisition played in full isometric mode for longer than a fight. Don't even think I saw it with KB+M at all.
In light of relatively recent events, that games' title seems a bit of a risk.
Oblivion and Skyrim over Morrowind? Might disagree with that one. PLus either one of those could (should) have been replaced with Fallout 3.
Then there is Knights of the old republic. That needs to be in it. And some might make a case for Dragon Age: Origins over say Gothic or even Divinity.
Well in my Shadow of Mordor, I did some serious collecting, expecting to unlock a quest or story, but nothing. Not when I collected the items with story, not when I completed the mural, not when I reforged my weapons.
Just giving Xp feels cheap. That's grinding to me.
(ps I did it, because the orc killing is really great fun, and I needed to justify it by collecting things.)
It's all optional but if developers claim they have say a 100 hours of content, and twenty of those hours consist solely of collecting things that do not influence the storyline in any significant way, I feel that's a misrepresentation.
(Even if it's technically content, I'd prefer if devs talked about meaningful content).
Well you learn something new everyday. It looks really stupid, but it's not the posters fault. My apologies.
Despite being on Kotaku, and despite the poster putting the text above in third person like a ten year old, this is actually not a bad article.
I do agree that developers are delving into the grinding mechanic too much. An endless amount of dungeons to clear doesn't feel like extra content. A thousand collectibles (that's you Assassins Creed) do not add significantly to the game. There's too much filler, not enough 'content' has substance.
More than 5% of DA gamers are completionists. Another part does the romance stories dispite their own preferences.
But yes, a part of the players will choose not to take part in that questline. But the same could be said about the multiplayer/coop parts. To me for example they feel like a waste of resources. To an action oriented player the tactical view might be a waste of resources.
The point is, the developers have a vision for a game, and they should buil...
I am more excited for Dragon Age but I still can't wait for The Witcher!
Lucky for me DA got delayed just a bit less.
Rpg's are quite different to most games when it comes to content on release. I don't know exactly, but I think Wasteland was around 50hrs and Divinity OS around 85hrs for an average playthrough.
But even against those numbers,... Divinity had 60hrs for the main story too, but 150 hours for the completionist.
Sounds impressive.
