These people need to think realistically. 3D will eventually become a mainstream part of our lives in the future, just as we present them in movies and games from holograms to 4D real-time, you name it. It's obvious that we want to see it become a part of reality eventually. But the only way to get there is if someone were to push the technology into market, and Sony wants to be the one to do it. Saying it won't take off is as ignorant as saying color television will never take off.
