I actually bothered reading it after reading your comment and I agree it's a good read with so many interesting points. Reality can indeed be a drab. I would love to see Naughty Dog return to a cartoony style even for just one game.
I find a lot of Nintendo games age really well due to artstyle regardless of weaker hardware.

That is weird but I guess mileage varied... Honestly I wouldnt know personally I saw the bad reviews and waited for the patches to play. I do find Ubisoft gets easily shafted though vs games like Skyrim who are fairly buggy at release without a single bad review.

It makes sense too... I think part of the reason why Xbox game pass works is most first party games are MP games that aim to keep you playing i.e. subscribed vs Sony (my personnal preference) leans more towards SP where it would be tempting to terminate a subscription after completing the games you want to play.
I agree 100% with everything you said but I also think initially prices will be low just as the TV streaming services were when they started. Once they get us hooked and get rid of retail (dooms day for many perhaps including myself) like you said their prices will most definitely go up. I'm sorry my mistake, when I said "they" I should have been more specific; I meant Sony and Xbox. This article picks at Sony for some reason (?) but I feel both consoles are making us wait an unusual amount of time for the price reveal.
If they were confident about their pricing strategy they would have told us already.
I am impatient to know myself but I can imagine a few reasons why it would be wise to wait; Sony said components were in short supply...
But I also think a steep price is bad press, waiting to the last minute minimizes backlash as early adopters will buy it any ways and "sold out pre-orders" would rebuke any critique based on price.

I am hoping for an annoncement of a new Far Cry game returning to a tropical island setting like Far Cry 3 but built for next gen!
Also curious to see PS5 / XsX gameplay for Valhala. I know Ubisoft milks that franchise way too much but I remember being quite impressed with the visuals of Unity at the beginning of current gen (although the game was a mess at release).

To be fair there is too much crying about this game from every single direction. Objectively speaking a lot of people bought it; most critics loved it, plenty of fans enjoyed it and obviously some didn't (impossible to tell how many).

Of all the games that should get a price hike it does not help that sports games are, for the most part, cheap cash grabs!
I think the author has a fair point with the issue of accessibility but with the rise in popularity of subscription services I think these price hikes will push even more people towards such a alternatives.

I might be one of the few excited about this feature but I love the addition of 4 player splitscreen support with more accessible driving than the Dirt Rally series.
I am totally more impressed by realistic graphics too! As far as benchmarks go I feel they really push hardware and technology to its limits. That is really what I expect from a next gen machine too... And a few CGI quality games like say Ratchet and Clank. I think realism is perfect for games that aim at immersion. Cant wait for the next TES game and that is one I hope they go for realistic graphics with facial tracking and animations as well as photogrammetry for the environments.
