It's not even "DLC." It's just the regular roster updates that madden has had for YEARS.
Why the hell is this even a story? Players change teams/unretire/etc all the time. It'll take EA roughly 2 seconds to put him in Madden via Roster Updates. There's not exactly a controversy here.
If the point of the breakaway controller is to also have a functional regular controller when you're not using the [presumably] 2 wands,the orbs will probably be detachable.
