I don't think we'll see the ps4 until late 2013 at the earliest. We've known about the wii u for a long time and had rumours about it for longer again ..and it isn't coming out until christmas. Until we start hearing developer rumblings...it's got to be a year or two away.

Flash memory has gotten exponentially cheaper since the PSP, if the pricing structure is the same, then something is very wrong.

The price increase over a normal SD card is a 100% increase.
If they were priced the same as a nomral SD card then everyone who buys a vita would be able to buy an extra game with their console ( if you buy a 32gb SD card. That is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

All the best drivers are beta. WQHL only means that MS has certified that it works with windows. Not that the performance is better or that it fixes bugs. WQHL means absolutely nothing. The driver that killed GPUs by f-ing up their fan speed was a WHQL driver.
The process of getting a driver certified by MS also takes up to a month. So instead of waiting for an old driver with a MS certification ( which is meaninglessness ) why not download the latest one with all the fixes? ...
I think the lack of Japanese games on launch is a damn shame for everyone. I don't know who asked for watered down console shooters where the most exciting moments are a crumbling ledge with a QTE as you move along it ( Uncharted Golden Abyss ).
But that's not why I buy handheld consoles.
It's even possible that better than next gen visuals are already available on PC. But as a result of some developers being pc-phobic, there will always be a need for consoles.
There are basically no JRPGs on PC and fighting games are limited to Street Fighter, and of course there will never be a Zelda PC version...so I can't wait for next gen to bring the gaming industry up to speed.

I don't mind games in a series where they use the lore but not necessarily the timeline.
Final Fantasy and Zelda come to mind. I know Nintendo claims Zelda has a timeline, but it's not seen in the games, so they never feel like a continuation. Just set in that lore.
It leaves open room for new stories without being bogged down by expectation and convoluted stories that come from having to reference previous games etc
