back of envelope:
1 billion / 10 million consoles sold = 100 usd per console.
seems quit a lot for a console that cost 400 dollars to buy.
of course my calculation is very raw but nevertheless i think he meant the 1 billion refers to forward costs (cost from future sales) as well as present costs.
agree. worst thing in the games market would be the emergence of just one player.
does anyone see a pattern here?? i clearly do:
if it is a ps3 excluse (lair, heavenly sword, mgs and ff) then the developers will say that it can't be done on an xbox360.
if it is an xbox360 exlusive (halo, splinter celll etc) then the developers will say it can't be done on ps3.
this is all propaganda bull by sony/microsoft. however, some people think they are so smart that only they can totally understand what is said by the studios - they pull o...

yes i do think global warming is a bigger issue than cancer.. really, i don't want to be the merchant of doom nor a guy who stands on street corner with a placard : the end is nigh... i know you might not believe in the threat of the global warming and i respect that but at least in this respect the united ntions agree with me. the un declares it as of the greatest threat facing humanity . okay the united nations might be wrong too but at least i am not the only person with this so called &...

i am not saying folding is bad - i am saying that using energy keeping the ps3 running all night might not be as beneficial as you think since you are using energy.. doing one good cause under the premise that it can cure diseases at the detriment of another good cause can be counterpoductive.. don't compare this to playing computer games because we all know that this is not a charitable activity so we are under no illusions that we are doing good.. folding on the hand is supposedly using th...
of course microsoft will make a profit next year. the development cost is all done. live is profitable. ms currently makes money on almost (not core) every console (especially the elite).
"OR as the PS3 tends to use about 180w to 200w of power you could also shut off 3 lights and save the same power.
OR you could switch all your lightbulbs to CFL and save alot more power than keeping your PS3 off. "
i actually thought about this and then realized shouldn't you do this anyway?? folding@home shouldn't inspire you to do this. if you can save energy save energy - you shouldn't replace one energy usage with another if the disbenefits (globa...
as a ps3 owner i totally agree with the first part of the above statement.. i actually think global warming is a bigger issue than cancer or other diseases (apologies for sound so harsh but i just think global warming is a bigger issue - i am not saying that cancer isn't a big issue). hence i personally do not recommend using a ps3 for folding.. if folding works in-game then i am okay about it but using the ps3 purely for folding is very damaging to the environment.. similarly when i use fol...
having played the wii i agree with microsoft on this one: it's a popular console but not a great console.. it's a bit of a civic but no where near a ferrari. it is popular but other than a motion sensing controller it is hardly groundbreaking..
the way this bubble system is going i think the more post you make the more likely you are going to lose bubbles.. that is unless you suck up to everyone.. the system is a bit silly - they should make it easier to add bubbles than to take off..
hahah. and IF it was a display xbox360 in one of those perspex cabinets then i can only guess that we all do him a favour and post the microsoft customer support number here..
you guys make it sound so awful that he had to settle for an xbox360. it wasn't that bad - at least he got an elite.
this means the xbox360 sucks ass compared to the ps3 and will thus lose the nextgen war

i expect sony customer service to be at least as good as the above story since, sony, in my opinion is a premium tech company (you pay more for a sony product than you would for a similar product elsewhere). besides, european law states that any tech item be sold with a two year warranty (the uk opted out of this law) hence this level of service is not that out of the ordinary. for example, i had a maxtor hd that broke three years after i bought it. maxtor sent me a replacement before i sen...
problem with Mart is he sounds like a broken record. he is consistently anti-ps3. more people would listen to him he wasn't so biased. i can't call him a true gamer because he is so bent on intepreting every news about the ps3 as bad - regardless of its actual true merit. i own a ps3 but i will probably buy an xbox360 in the (very) distant future to see what it is like - no point shutting down my options.
GAME sucks big time.. they could suck a donkeys bollocks through a metre long straw.. bad news for casual gamers.
eventhough it is just speculation this makes absolute sense. it's a no-brainer in my opinion. it should also make the network more stable since you are not tied to a set of servers. i was suprised to note that sony hadn't considered it earlier since p2p is the way forward.
somehow i can't see p2p working with blu-ray movies. but if DRM is sorted out then i see no reason to not be able to share everything (so long as it is not copy protected) on your ps3.
sony...
at least the xbox360 and ps3 is beating the gba!!
seriously the problem for the ps3 in japan - an area where it should do well - is the lack of new games releases. even the games that we see here aren't released in japan. nothing revolutionary but only time can solve this problem.
i suspect that a lot of ps2 sold are actually replacement for old consoles that have broken down.
