@rainslacker the GPU gets the assets for the rendering from the memory ok, but the raw image as well (the CPU just sends the address or something)? If so, PS4's unified memory should be heaven for the devs, and there would be no problem with it being 1080p...But would the devs really lie about it or is there something else?
PS: It looks like I was wrong before, Bubble Up for ya :D
"that have truly lived up to the hype" exactly. I was getting bored of many other highly-hyped games being nothing but deception, and then games like Shadow of Mordor (although not a Wii U game) and Bayonetta started coming :D
@rainslacker I understand what you're saying, but as I said, I'm taking no position - it's indeed difficult to support Ubisoft's statements without details about both their use of CPU AND PS4's architecture. What I can't let run wild is the misinformation people are propagating about resolution not having anything to do with CPU - as I said, higher resolution, more pixels to send to GPU. I don't think the CPU sends ALL the pixels (raw information), there's prob...
@BitbyDeath Resolution IS NOT only GPU related. How do you think the GPU knows what to print on screen? The CPU must tell it. If it's more pixels (higher resolution), it's more data to send to the GPU. Now imagine the CPU trying to determine where each NPC on screen will take the next step AND having to send that much information (the image with 1080p) 60 times per second to the GPU. It's like a kid pushing his mom's shirt to make her pay attention to him while she's talki...
Steam sales \o/
wow people here need some hugs
On Topic - This game looks lots of fun, won't be missing it for anything. Although yeah, I hate uPlay. Hate to start the game at Steam, then go to uPlay, check for updates etc then go to the game.
Shadow of Mordor looks like Assassin's Creed and Batman Arkham games in some parts, and still is freaking awesome. So yeah, I see no problem in that.
Man, if the devs are saying that it looks great and you don't see a difference why complain? Are numbers the only thing you want to know? How did you survive before the whole graphics battle started?
Just a little correction - there is no such a thing as "CPU and GPU bound". It can only be one of those, or balanced. If they said it's CPU-bound, it's the same as saying that the game doesn't push the GPU much. And being CPU-bound means the majority of requests are to be processed at the CPU not Input/Output(GPU in this case), which means that the GPU is prejudiced.
When the program says: print image on screen, it occupies the CPU for a time, then goes ...
Please no Games For Windows...never again
Only some games. This makes absolutely no sense with strategy games like Age Of Empires or sandbox ones like Minecraft. And there are yet the games you simply play again because you like it a lot...
PS2 <3 still the best console of all time IMO xD. And true, resolution and fps are just secondary stuff. When about a game, people should talk about gameplay.
And still, people want a movie out of it by complaining because of 900p :/ The most important thing in a game is gameplay, graphics are just extras...
The game is not even on Wii U yet...If they were revealing DLC already it would mean they are like EA for making DLC WHILE making the game, not after. Which is ridiculous IMO.
@FITgamer it's something quite simple but not very discussed because it's all put together into "gameplay". Do you think the only thing that improves in new games are graphics? That's completely wrong. As he said, AI, number of NPCs, their actions and respective consequences to the world overall. These aren't trivial things. Actually, the graphical part is more trivial. That's why AC4 was able to go @1080p. It clearly didn't need as much CPU processing as AC ...
Dear N4G users, before commenting, read the article. PS4 is the one who can't handle the game BECAUSE of it's weak CPU. Stop comparing to Black Flag or whatever. Any questions about why this happens go research about it, stop spreading your fanboy opinions. Thank you.
Let me rewrite it, from someone who actually read the article: So pretty much both would have been 1080p if the PS4 was capable. READ IT ffs. CPU-bound is the keyword here.
lol did you read the article? The one who can't handle the game is the PS4 not Xbox One. People think graphics is the most "heavy" thing in a game. This shows that it ain't the truth.
@xHeavYx we're talking about AC Unity here, a different game...It's not because it's the same series/studio that all the games will have the same...stuff or whatever you talking about. The article clearly said that they are CPU-bound, not GPU. If they divided some processes into the GPU, PS4 would be able to run with no problem, but do this just to satisfy one of the consoles is just too much. It's a fact that PS4's CPU isn't that strong in contrast to their GPU/unifie...
I think it's about a PS4 fanboy who couldn't get his games 1080p@60fps xD
But anyways I loved Postal that was very violent but also very funny...if this game was at least funny I'd get it...
