Who disagreed lol what makes you think online gaming won't be free?
There are plenty of reasons they shouldn't block games but anyone who can take your internet away and force you to pay to get it back is more than capable of pulling more crap out of the bag, I can honestly see them doing it.
I must say I have only ever bought games new and don't trade them so it wouldn't really affect me but that doesn't mean I would support it and would probably pass on PS4 out of principle same as I don't consider the xbox an option because of being forced to pay to gain your internet back so out of principle will never own one.

It does appear that it is at least something microsft are considering, one things for sure if they thought they could get away with it they wouldn't think twice.

This is being mentioned by someone who is in a position to know about these things this really does seem more than just a rumour and if/when it's confirmed xbox users will only have themselves to blame for allowing microsft to force them to pay for internet access, got to say if it is true surely xbox owners are not stupid enough to put up with more crap from microsft, mind you judging them this gen I wouldn't put it past them.
aibreeze I think is right, to start with microsoft will make all the right noises provide some decent games and the usual massive advertising campaign to give their new console an initial boost it will sell a few (especially to the fanboys) and they will then leave it to 3rd party to pick up the slack as they use their resources supporting kinect ect with the usual Halo,gears to appease the core gamers (sort of) they will continue to take away your internet access and expect you to pay to get...
I too pay my electric etc Witwicky and as you point out we both pay our internet provider for our internet access, so why are you paying microsoft exactly for your internet?
Netflix you pay for but again to access it you have to pay M$ who are not your internet provider (cable seems to be yours) if you want to pay for things like netflix etc fine but why exactly do microsoft take your internet away and expect you to pay to get it back and why do you accept it?
I'll tell you why I care, it is the thin end of the wedge, allowing microsoft to take away your internet and forcing you to pay to get it back sets a very poor precedent for gamers there was already talk of maybe Sony following suit for the PS4 thankfully that was all it was talk but xbox owners have opened up the possibility for other factions of the gaming world EA for example to start charging for something that should be free, I'm sorry but xbox owners have done gaming no favours ...
Paying to use their internet and they think its a good deal, all those saying it's for cross game chat wake up everyone else including microsoft know if they gave free internet access (as it should be) subscriptions would take a huge hit, M$ has them by the balls and they defend it, mugs the lot of them.

I will never pay to use my internet and would abandon console gaming if Sony followed the M$ con of taking your internet access away then expecting me to pay to get it back, fortunately I don't feel Sony will be doing that online gaming will remain free but cross game chat and other new features they may ask a fee to use, I am fine with that and if I see real value in what they offer (like PS+) then I may be tempted.

My wife has absolutely no interest in gaming so it was a huge surprise that on the day the news came out and I had only that day found out about the upcoming Sony announcement she returns from work telling me that Sony was announcing the PS4.

Fair play to M$ they managed to sell something that most people expect to be free, M$ have got away with it this gen and to be fair have probably lead the way, but those days are changing PS+ offers so much value and we all know cross game chat ( xbl last bastion) will be part of the PS4 so surely M$ will have far more problems continuing to charge.
