The real difference between console exclusive games and any games on the pc is funding.
There are no pc manufactures spending the lavish amounts of money on pc exclusive content in the same way console makers do. The closes would be valve, and blizard, as far as spending money to push the pc market in a way thats similar to how the console market gets pushed. Even then valve doesn't put out a whole lot of games compared to sony or even microsoft.
So yea...
good article. it'll catch a lot of unwarranted flack though.
Aww I didn't know they were shutting down the MAG servers. That makes me kind of sad. I haven't played it in a long time but I put a lot of hours into it. I'll probably never throw away the disk just because of all the memories.
@InTheZoneAC its not a simulation. Its almost a simulation. The tracks are smoothed out for easier driving and the cars are all made to handle slightly better than reality.
Oh sure somebody just needs to craft an amazing piece of art. Its easy really.
Don't worry I'll get on it soonish.
Its like anything else in gaming. It can be done well or it can suck. Some DLC is a scam, some of it is great. The same can be said of just about anything, some games in a given genre suck some are great. It goes the same with payment models. Some games aren't worth 60 dollars but get sold for that anyhow. Some ftp game are worth money so people play the hell out of them. Look how well LoL and DOTA2 are doing, or team fortress 2. Those game don't in any way scam players out of the gam...
But they want to rebrand servers as cloud because then they can get people happily using drm in most of their games. Every game that relies heavily on these "cloud" systems will be unpiratable.
It sounds to me like ms is using the cloud mostly for anti piracy measures. Sure it has some benefits as well but anti piracy is probably where they got the idea from. Its just DRM that can also make games better. Which is pretty cool and all but it will mean that you need to be online to play anything that uses it. Which is less cool.
I'm shocked, he apparently didn't say more pixels once.
@Primegrime
With the psp they also gave it a better screen, increased the ram, added a microphone. In fact they didn't increase the clock speed at all with new versions. The clock speed was firmware reduced at launch and was increased later by unlocking it with new firmware.
Why is this on the list as a deal
"Purchase a PS3 at full retail price, then trade it back into EB Games for the full retail price less $50 (must hold onto your original receipt, ends September 27th)"
Nvidia may make better hardware but in my experience amd does better drivers. The drivers seem to come out more often, the games are better optimized, and more stable graphics wise. Also more and more games seem to be optimized for amd cards. With that being the case sure nvidia has more power but they need it to brute force unoptimized code.
See the part your missing though is that a new game sale covers not just development but shipping and printing of disc and related materials. After the first sale that stuff and the development costs and marketing are already paid for. What the publishers and puppet developers are asking for is a double dip on the same product. They say they aren't selling enough to break even.. new game sales are higher than they have ever been and grow every year. The problem isn't that people are b...
if their doing shed ai I'll be expecting gazebo ai before long. Who doesn't want to be attacked by a gazebo right :)
Also even as a filler episode 400 days was miles ahead of other games story telling wise. It was probably the best 5 dollars I've spent all month.
It's running windows kernel. It's obviously not going to be winning in any efficiency races thats for sure.
Anybody notice that most of the features the xone has are features that are in the ps3? The whole one box thing, ps3 has been doing that since it came out. Even the tv thing, in japan they put out an accessory for the ps3 that let it record tv shows and stuff for you. Obviously it didn't work out as hoped and they went back to just saying it was mostly a gaming device but still. It broke that ground years ago.
if your getting viruses on a pc your doing something seriously wrong. It's not even a matter of being a pc geek. New windows comes with a half decent virus manager, and a little bit of searching will come up with some better free alternatives (avast, or avg).
Their obviously working on fallout four somewhere. I'd be very surprised if betheseda had only one main dev team. They've probably had a small team working on fallout four since fallout 3 launched.
Since the betheseda main games are such huge open world games they could easily have a rotation of devs going in and out as various parts are completed.
did they give it a story? Yes. Then it gets reviewed as such. You can just review a game based on gameplay when they put so much emphasis on the story parts. These aren't nes games that are running on 95 percent gameplay 5 percent story. These days games are running closer to fifty fifty with ten percent give and take in either direction.
