Behold, the power of marketing to casuals. Microsoft is absolutely relentless, they will make sure everybody and their mother knows about Kinect. Expect Kinect to be shoved in your face whenever you turn on your TV, Computer, or walk by Gamestop.

I really don`t see how Steamworks would boost PS3 sales dramatically. I could see a small boost from people who are really fascinated by it, but overall, I think the exclusives are going to have a much bigger role in selling consoles.
It better. Microsoft has shifted their focus on the 360 from hardcore gaming, to snagging the casuals, and with 1/2 billion dollars to accomplish that task, failure would be devastating.
I`m also going to chime in and mention the most successful console of all time, the PS2, was targeted to hardcore gamers LARGELY over casuals.

Yeah, PS3 cost thousands of dollars within the first couple days of launch. Yet, many people realized they could just wait a little bit. Applying that same logic to kinect, what if the first batch of buyers realizes Kinect might not be that great, and word of mouth prevents it from being a smash hit? Lots of new electronics see high demand at launch, it`s called hype.
