If MS was so great what happened to GFWL? Except for the Windows platform MS's contribution to PC gaming is ZERO. GFWL was pretty much abandoned. Hell EA put up more of fight than MS did.

Games for Windows was an epic failure. MS isn't bulletproof, that much is certain. Don't get me started on Win 8.

Valve has some deep pockets friend and their online service, which has seen 100% growth every year for the past 8 years, has been free from the begi...

Yea because how ep. 3was handled completely negates every other success Valve has had. Suppose you think Steam is a complete failure too?

And who said Valve would play the "exclusives" game anyway? Don't assume that because Valve makes a console that they will just copy the competition. That isn't Valve's style.

I think people who don't have any experience with Valve will be surprised.

Probably need to upgrade that 56k modem. Do not even try to say you have highspeed internet because even a slow connection, which I have had, doesn't take 3 hours for a patch to DL.

You lost me on Steam force feeding you DLC. Your last sentence screams 'troll' too. Props on the DLC thing though, that's a new one.

You don't have to go online to go offline. At least not anymore. When Steam starts without an internet connection it asks if you want to go offline.

When has Valve ever shown it doesn't know what its core fan base wants? I have no clue what they plan to do or what the price will be but if any company knows what its target customer base wants its Valve.

Valve has been well aware people want HL3. If they were a publicly traded company like EA we would probably know more or even played it years ago. That isn't the case. The complete lack of info should tell you they have had something big in the works for a while. ...

They said the same thing about Steam. Not only were folks convinced DD would fail but it was supposed to be impossible to turn a profit in Russia due to the high piracy rate.

If Valve is good at anything its having the patience and drive to build something.

I would also say that PC gaming is more popular internationally than it is in the states.

4821d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I disagree completely. I trust Valve not because of their sales on Steam or how they view the problem of piracy. Nor is it because they developed Half-Life or their support for indie titles. I trust them because after 8 years of using Steam they earned it.

Steam is a DD retailer and its focused on doing that, well, for nearly a decade. Valve is also privately held and not answerable to shareholders but to their customers.

Steam was started at a time when ma...

Dammit, this game supports the killing of Tigers to make a damn backpack. Boycott! Maybe when our population is reduced to under 5000 we'll stop whining about non-existent racism.

What ^^^ said.

You can always find racism if you look hard enough.

Gameplay-wise it was good. There were some kinks in the system. However, in terms of "content" it was extremely lacking. A hand-full of maps and not many armor/weapon choices was really it. On top of that everyone had an "American" accent.

Its not a bad game by any means, but they way some talk about it makes me think I'm playing a completely different game.

I hope once they have milked the DLCs for it they'll release mod tools o...

In the entertainment world art is compromised all the time. In the real world if you want sell your art, you HAVE to be able to compromise. A very few artists can make any money without compromising their artistic integrity at some point. In games and movies, forget it.

You should be thanking him for compromising just the cover and not the game. Bigger budgets need more gamers to buy the game. If making a familiar looking cover gets gamers to buy it what's the problem?

That is how to respond to community complaints. I don't have an issue with the cover myself, but I like that his response was honest and respectful.

Seriously? IMO it barely rated being called a sex scene. Looked more like a lap dance, if I'm honest.

I 'loathed' not being able turn on my flashlight when I wanted to and not being able to switch to burst fire or single shot.

Pretty nitpicky, I know, but they actually exist in the game and "racism" does not.

The game being universally well received means some one has to find some controversy with it. So a game that features multiple races must have racism in it. What else are you gonna write about?

@Aloren

I would expect any developer that botched a part of their game to fix it.

For ME3, its story is its primary selling point. It was broken. It wasn't just the choices, but the entire concept was a mess. I expected them to fix it as I would expect the COD devs to fix a gun that was messed up.

You don't end anything, much less a trilogy, with more questions than answers. Sure you can leave some things to the imagination, but not t...

Pretty sure Star Citizen doesn't have the budget that GW2 had.

I think you might be confusing what "Triple A" actually means. He's talking about instead of companies taking huge risks with big budget titles moving to smaller budget titles with far less risk.

Star Citizen is a very good example of what he said in the article. It has a smaller budget and less risk. With less risk comes more innovation and better chance for success. But survivi...

Yes, how dare people compete to see who can donate the most to charity.

Everyone knows that money donated with any ulterior motive is actually deducted from the charity and sent to Satan.

Poor kids.

Another "blame the stupid gamers" piece.

Couldn't have been EA/BioWare using the WoW model expecting to cut into Blizzard's slice of the pie. Can't have anything to do with the fact that the BioWare/Star Wars/MMO formula might not be a bulletproof as they thought. And it most certainly couldn't have had anything to do with the traditional sub-based model or the lack of endgame content.

No it had to be those mean gamers. Had they not ...

I'm pretty sure the truth is somewhere in the middle of both accounts. LA isn't know for its unwavering support. SWG and TOR for example.

That said, the 99% claim was over estimated but I think LA lost confidence in the project and wanted it to die. I doubt they intentionally sabotaged it.

If LA was seriously committed to the franchise, where is it? Free Radical may have been a crappy developer but it doesn't change the fact that 1313 was announce...
