Besides Walking Dead and occasionally Project Zomboid / State of Decay, I am bored of zombies. Zombies hit their stride when Black Ops had a zombies mode and Dead Island 1 was released, ever since then it's been oversaturation, especially when it comes to PC indie games. Enough with the zombies!
These Wii U specific delays are really awful to hear and really do hit home the lack of care that third party developers give. Ubisoft tried but even they are starting to give up now.
All the hard work building up third parties on the Wii has failed. With the exception of Call of Duty (except the latest one) and party titles like Just Dance we've gone back to the early Wii days when third parties wouldn't touch nintendo with a long stick. I'm hoping the next few y...
Some DLC can be fantastic (Rock Band songs for example) but more single player missions? Those I put on a low priority since I rarely finish games as it is, DLC or not.
I used to play console games a lot, particularly Nintendo consoles but PC is really where most of the action is at. I have a PC and a Wii U which covers me for the first party nintendo games, other games that don't run well on PC like Call of Duty Ghosts and PS/Xbox releases that get ported to PC (95% of them do)
While the Vita does have some good things going for it, ultimately it lost a lot of support for third parties that it had in the PSP era such as Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid. It's a shame as I really expected the PSP2 to be much better but instead it's nintendo that completely dominated the market there
Kairosoft are brilliant developers. They make games based on what people want and are great at modernising classic concepts from the 90s such as managing a city or a tower block. Wish more companies were like them.
If any turn-based strategy game deserved to be on 3DS it's this one.
You'd think after Ryse and Warface they would be loaded by now but apparently not. Where did it all go wrong after the masterpiece that was Crysis? How many of the Crysis 1 developers are still with the team and how many have moved on? Hope the staff eventually get what they deserve in terms of money as it is a horrible position to be in.
Developers can't just act on people's whims at the drop of a hat, it takes time to actually develop a completely new set of characters. They need a heads up that people really want these things. Mass Effect 3 is one of the only times when players could really notice significant changes between genders, we need more of those kind of games before sexism truly disappears.
Shame it's not coming to PC but at least The Division seems like it will be similar in some ways
In the words of Jack Sparrow. "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by", October 2014 will be my moment to buy all of the October 2013 games at 75-85% of the price. Win-win for me as all the games I get are patched and cheap, happy days!
Every good game on the console is either lacking a major component or is otherwise flawed. Assassin's Creed is missing the amazing multiplayer component, no zombies on Black Ops, 2-man limit on Borderlands 2 co-op...
It's not like any of these decisions can ruin a console but put it all together and it's not a pretty sight. They are in a worse situation than the Wii U because at least the Wii U has great games and good games in the pipeline, Vita has... PS4 remote...
Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all have terrible prices for their digital stores. Some nintendo games are £40-£50 on there vs the retail where the prices are £25-35. There's something wrong when the digital version of a game costs more than the physical copy. Only Steam has it right and that's thanks to pre-purchase discounts and sales.
Even Low/Mid on some games still looks nice, depends on AA and other settings
I don't know why console developers are so much cockier by assuming their audience doesn't care about FPS. Why not a lower resolution option that increases FPS to 60 for those that care about it?
AC3 had poor optimisation, AC4 ended up being better optimised from what I hear although I got it on Wii U so I can't verify this. They end up releasing a lot of patches in the first few months so it won't have a long term effect.
Brace yourselves, patches are coming
Sure the graphics may be nice but the huge install and lower number of modes? Shame, I would have thought they would treat PC gamers with more respect... after all the PC might be the only gaming platform in 10 years time.
Shame that publishers feel the need to rush out games these days. Quality Assurance is something that sadly comes last on the list of important things for development teams to focus on.
Last of Us did it well, making it similar to the real life fungus that affects ants.
