Fo' realz. And for its time, DoA1 was the most fluid beat 'em up. Blew people away on Dreamcast.

The man is a god among lesser beings.

Rhetoric aside, he's a visionary developer. Granted, he isn't to everyone's taste. But he created extremely innovative games for his time. Ninja Gaiden 1 and Dead or Alive 1 were both revolutionary at the time. He's been out of the limelight for a bit, but those of us who remember the good old days are really excited about this reveal.

Yeah, I've not played this yet either. Day 1 for sure.

Good show ;-)

If they go down the Illuminati route, it will be in this game. The historical Illuminati was formed just prior to the revolution and was allegedly involved in it through the fraternities in Paris and Jacobins. Their symbolism is all over the revolutionary documents and architecture. I wouldn't hold your breath though - Ubisoft screwed up their chance to go all conspiracist in ACIII, and they might do it here too.

You'll want to if you want to get the full experience from the game. It was a very complex revolution, with lots of actors and causes. You may want to check out some of the 'conspiracy theories' surrounding it as well, since Ubisoft goes down that route. The classic is by John Robison, Proof of a Conspiracy. As an absolute MUST you'll want to read the Discourse on Inequality and Social Contract by Rousseau, if you want to grasp the philosophy of the revolt. The revolutionaries...

Holy crap, glad I just skimmed the comments. I really need to listen to those Chico tapes.

Day 1...even though I swore never to get an AC on Day 1 again...

Yes. One of the best stories in recent times. Gameplay is often dodgy, but you can learn to deal with it to enjoy the games.

EDIT: I reckon you should start with AC1 and play through them all. The story builds up across the canon games: AC1, AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations, AC3, AC4. If you skip AC1, you'll regret it when starting AC2 and Revelations in particular. All the DLC adds to the story as well.

@Fox

"If you can speed run it in 10 minutes then even if you took your time you'll probably have at least 45 minutes to an hour to do it. Add other stuff for another hour....there's two hours of stuff to do.

Hardly worth the money....I really don't see how you can possibly defend it"

Have you played it? I'm genuinely curious. I've put in over 10 hours and have barely scratched the extra features.

Dang, guess I should listen to those tapes then.

It reminds me of MGS2.

I've been saying for the past few days that the graphics aren't as great as I expected. They are quite good in some areas, but foliage, for instance, sucks. Some textures are pretty bad. Some objects are poorly structured. While playing it you don't really notice that much, and it's clearly a good looking game overall. But after playing Killzone, for instance, I was surprised to see this. No doubt it's last gen dragging down yet another game.

Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité!

Agreed. The game must be huge if they need an extra year+ to work on it before release. I'm happy with GZ for the moment.

Once I completed the main mission, I was kind of disheartened. But after booting up again today and checking what I unlocked, I'm now firmly in support of MGS:GZ again. It is not a demo, has hours upon hours of gameplay, and is a great opportunity to get used to the new open world format. In fact, the new format completely changes the MGS landscape - the game is HARD. I'll need the practice before playing Phantom Pain.

I agree, though I'm not ;-)

Why in the eff do the story and most of these comments read like they were written by 10 year olds?!

Anyway - The constraints are easily explained: people are buying the console as fast as they can make them.
