Guy working at Gamestop (Bailey's Crossroads, Arlington, VA) told me yesterday that it will have "around 400 hours of play time, whatever that means." He said Kojima is the source of that information. Take that for what it's worth.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Kojima has released something of this sort. The VR missions for MGS were about half the price of the game, and didn't add much except repetitive VR training for fans of the series (like me).
Of course, GZ isn't quite the same sort of thing, and a comparison between them is necessarily difficult in light of the fact that none of us have played GZ yet.

No, I'm not buying it AT FIRST because Ubisoft has lied (allegedly) and because they have a history of releasing disappointing games. You see, you would have understood that had you read my post. Agreed. I'd be canceling mine, but I don't pre-order Ubisoft as it is, after the AC III mess.
I'll be brief: the video shows a significant downgrade from the initial reveal, particularly in lighting and effects, though also in texture quality and - at least from what I can tell - animations. This is hugely disappointing and - unless we are all mistaken about the video - there's no way I'll be buying this in the short term. I'm tempted to say it looks worse than GTA V on PS3, and it definitely looks worse than ACIV.

Play MGS1 (the PS1 game). Give it a try, and then think about how innovative it was for its time and how great the story is. Then, if you are impressed, replay MGS2 and give MGS3 a try. People can try to express what is great about the series, try to justify it, and so on, but as with everything in life you'll have to give it a genuine and honest shot yourself in order to appraise its value.
