I also disagree that Super Mario Galaxy 2 flew under the radar. I've never played anything on Nintendo systems, and I heard a lot about it.

A closer analogy is probably the deals that movie and television studios make with producers and their production companies, such as when some studio makes a contract with J.J. Abrams to develop a bunch of TV series.

Perhaps the problem with 3D fighting games is that they just try to change things a little from 2D fighting games. To be successful, they may need to have very different mechanics. They might also need new advances in 3D gaming hardware. GZ
