one of those features that, even if you don't use it a lot, its still nice to know its there. Its critical IMO, like life preservers on a motorboat. Sony marketing didn't do their homework correctly, they asked, do you use it rather than do you want it. I do think that having a PS2 and PS3 sitting side by side would look kinda nice, but I like the idea of playing the PS2 games upscaled on a new console, saving space, not having to switch, having one set of controllers, etc. Maybe they should ...

from the FAQ :

Q: Can I use a Memory Unit with backwards compatibility?

A: No, except for storing your Xbox LIVE profile. Original Xbox games are not able to access the Xbox 360 Memory Unit. Also, the original Xbox Memory Unit is not compatible with Xbox 360.

is the HDD required for BC on the xbox or can it work with a memory card?

considering that many folks like myself have considered buying a second 360 once they're reliable rather than dealing with getting the original one repaired.

feature wise most folks will end up spending the same on either unless you just go bare bare bones for the 360

and you should be grateful to us early adopters for helping to susidize your price cut.

its very easy for them to keep chanting "no games no games no games" its a talking point that can easily penetrate the minds of less aware consumers. They'll be chanting it 3 years from now. Give it up it wont stick.

The PSN selection is unrivalled in terms of newness and quality and breadth, and there's plenty of 1st and 3rd party games to enjoy *right now* that make the console worth its purchase. I'm telling folks to hold out for $399 but that they should snap it...

i've gotten the extra $100 (i have a 20g model) of entertainment out if it this year.

One of the observations from the failures of last gen launches were that launch systems were priced too cheaply thus massive shortages ensue making it difficult to obtain a console at launch. Everyone suggested that consoles should launch at a higher price point to let early adopters subsidize costs and minimize shortages -- which Sony was more or less successful in doing. Now, within a year of its launch -- less in Europe -- a significant price drop is occurring. The quality of the machine i...

prob will have the falcon motherboard and will make great replacements for those noisy defective launch premiums. just snap the old HDD onto it. thats what i'm going to get it for.

in most cases the amount of mony yr going to spend on a 360 and a PS3 is comparable unless you go bare bare bones on the 360.

how is that good for the industry or gamers if Sony is eliminated from the industry. so they would be replacing a company with a proven track record of profitability and innovation with a copycat me-too company likely to be burnt to the ground figuratively in a shareholder revolt

cell processor : IBM : US
RSX : Nvidia : US
Drake : Naughty Dog : US
Ratchet : Insomniac : US
Warhawk : Incognito : US

there are bluray disc mfg facilities in the US. IBM has a factory in NY that makes the Cell.

So there's plenty of american made hardware / software in a PS3.

stunning graphics, great gameplay, great story. Its plenty long enough for me, it has replay value if you don't get all the stuff the first time through. The more I play it and the deeper i get into the story the more I like it.

65nm CPU's are possibly in units mfg after 8-25-2007. this one has a 8-16-2007 mfg date. There is no confirmed 65nm GPU.

Its hard to say that with the hardware changes the MS has made since April 2007 that the 360 is still RROD prone, tho i guess some of the early Elites had problems, anecdotally. Don't know why someone would intentionally break their $400 360 just to rile people up, so this is either faked, desperate, or real.

A lot of people on the xbox board...

PS3 - processor and graphics : IBM and Nvidia : US
Wii - processor and graphics : IBM and ATi : US
Xbox360 : processor and graphics : IBM and ATi : US

All of them : assembled in China

The Cell is stamped out in fishkill, NY as well as a plant in Japan.

Do not ever launch a product in Japan if you think you have even a 1% chance of product problems.

There's 33 to 50 reasons right there why 360 isn't big in japan.

6698d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I have to restate that Japan/Asia doesn't hate or have bias against the US or its products. That is not the reason why the 360 is not faring well in Japan. Microsoft made some missteps in their marketing / advertising, the XBOX 1 failed due to its size / games, so there isn't the brand awareness / loyalty. Apple has succeeded in consumer electronics of all things.
