Thank you, you hit the nail in the head
Agreed but to make matters worse loot boxes require in game currency not actual dollars. For example a loot box may cost 50 gold coins or 60 jewels that may actually cost either 5 cents or worse $5-$10 dollars. This means that companies may be overcharging for loot boxes. In a casino I control how much I want to spent.
That would be true but if you are playing online and your rival beats you not because he/she is a better player but because he/she bought the best weapon/armor plus a stealth cloaking suit. That right there your rival is paying to beat you.
This was written by a corporate slave to a tee. Many gamers have forgotten about free unlockables, map editors, mini games, LAN play, etc. I fully understand that the videogame industry is a business but is a creative business not an office or manufacturing business. Videogames are part of the entertainment industry. The purpose of gaming is to engage gamers into virtual worlds to escape from the harsh realities that people live in. A better way for the gaming industry to improve would be: ...
This is bullshit all good customer driven companies bought off by corporations. Bleh. This will hurt humble bundle in the long run.
Very good article but with crowdfunded games. It makes it a little difficult especially if the game is done through fig and say gamer decided to invest on the proyect by getting some of the financial profits once the game goes gold. In those type of scenarios the gamer does have a say on how the game is made.
I agree nor disagree but a game can also be held back by poor budgeting or worse (backdoor deal between console manufacturer and game developer/publisher). Some games are held back by the audience of the system along with outdated hardware. Meaning console gamers prefer in general easy to pick up hard to master games; in contrast, PC gamers prefer complex last minute to detail games. Perfect example:
Far Cry 2 is widely preferred by PC gamers due to its complexity

No mention of Welcome to Hanwell?
Surprised Among the Sleep was not mentioned. Agony is coming up along with Welcome to Hanwell. Those are horror games that might be worth it.
It may live up to the hype
Can't wait to play this game. It may end up as a pc classic
Horrible list
It may seem that way. With PlayStation Now on PC and old PS4 games showing up on PS Now. Every Xbox exclusive is on PC. This year the PC did lost a lot of supposedly exclusive games. Now this. Is starting to look like exclusive games are not as common as before
Agreed, but this year is been ok for PC as far as exclusives are concerned. I will let people decide if these PC exclusives are worth their attention:
The Long Journey Home
Total Warhammer 2
Divinity Original Sin 2 (may come to consoles)
Vaporum
Cook Serve Delicious 2
Endless Space 2
Detention
Darkwood
Just to name a few but compared to last year:
Total W...
Woah! This is truly the era of the end of exclusive games. Tecmo bringing a game to PC for me is a first (played on consoles before). When I saw this game exclusive to PS4. I thought it was a real exclusive. I will buy it now. If it comes at $30.00 (very likely) that will be sweet.
The thing with PC hardware like deskstops are still used to make games, special effects for movies, still used for engineering, etc. Also, the fact that pc hardware is cheaper now. In contrast, console hardware is only used for entertainment purposes; thus, no longer needed. Tvs today offer the same or more multimedia apps as consoles. Really, console hardware can no longer exist and everybody will be fine. Can't wait for the Sony PlayStation TV app, that will be so cool.
I agree but gamers are way too divided and are too loyal to corporations/major franchises.
No they are not going away but we can still demand for options like lan support, offline multiplayer, mod support, a single player campaign (if the game needs it or makes the gaming experience better), etc. The problem with gamers is we are not a demanding consumer base nor we stand up against anti-consumer practices as much as we should. If we keep letting slide every single anti-consumer practice is only going to get worse for gaming.
Can't wait to play this game
Maybe small upstart games or just obscure games
