KZ2 is not a casual game made for a casual audience, and does anyone really believe there's a core gamer in the WORLD that isn't aware of this game and want to lick it? This article IS advertising. This whole website IS advertising. Anyone who can afford the internet and cares about games at all knows about KZ2. Consider it advertised.
U R not redE
Fallout 2 is my favorite game ever made. It had a certain something that no game to date has ever managed to replicate. Some valiant attempts were made (Torment, Arcanum, Bloodlines, KotoR), but never was that elusive beast captured again. When Black Isle was liquidated it just about broke this poor gamer's tiny heart, so when I heard that Fallout 3 was being made, my first thought was "REALLY!?" Then I found out that Bethesda was making it, and that they wanted to take the franchis...
All of the things you just described are major elements in Call of Duty 4. Does that mean CoD is an RPG now? And how does WoW in any way shape or form have multiple ways to play through? Just because WoW is called an MMORPG, that automatically makes it one? No, I think not. Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken. The highest form of role playing in wow is convincing another player that you're a girl in real life. Thanks, but no thanks.
Role playing games are ...
Fallout 2 may very well be the greatest RPG ever made, and all these SoBs ever talk about is Final Fantasy. Does anyone ever talk about the tragedy of Black Isle, or Troika? No. They were people who understood an RPG could be more than:
Choice A- Good
Choice B- Neutral
Choice C- Bad
Or like the faux RPGs of Japan (many of them admittedly good games in their own rights):
Choice A- Left
Choice B- Right
At least Torment was ON...
Sure, FFXII may have had better gameplay, and a better story, but FFX had a chick wearing a dress made of belts! Belts dude! And you've got to admit, chick wearing belt dress > furry chick in bikini.
It's just as much an RPG as any Zelda game... Which is to say not at all.
Seriously, half of these games barely qualify as having RPG elements at all, much less being full-fledged RPGs. Where's Baldur's Gate? Where's the rest of the Fallout series? Vampire: Bloodlines? And WoW=#1? Are you f***ing kidding me? How does a game where people talk about damage mitigation and "LF resto shammy ZA PUG!" in an RP server qualify as an RPG? And don't give me any of that s*** about how "the game is about role playing even if the players aren't". I hate to br...
Chances are good that they were being sardonic, or running a brief social commentary on the death of the print format. I could be wrong. I didn't see the episode, but I'm familiar with the content (and context) of the show.
Frankly, although I love the sensation of a book, it is only a matter of time before a digital medium develops that is an even better interface. I imagine it will be something akin to touch-sensitive E-paper that you can plug into an archive of literature and ...
I didn't really get to see G4 as it was, but as it is, there's like 2 hours of decent programming in 24. There's X-Play, AotS, and I like Code Monkeys (f***ing shoot me). An episode or two of Ninja Warrior is cool too, but clearly only the incredibly stoned could sit through an entire day of G4 programming.
What would be really cool is if they could get like a Gabe and Tycho show/cartoon from Penny Arcade. I would watch that.
Oh, awesome, a TV show that has combined a Woody-Allen-neuroses-exhibitin g scenester with video games. Now I have something to watch while I compulsively wash my hands and listen to Death Cab for Cutie! YAY!
Crysis isn't on the 360, and FC2 is multi-platform... so... yeah.
People are pouring out of the woodwork talking about how "embarrassed" Gears should be, or how these pics are "biased", and BLAH BLAH BLAH! Seriously, STFU. WTF does Gears have to be embarrassed about? That game is fun as hell, and it looks f***ing awesome. And "biased"? Are you f***ing kidding me? They're pics! It's not like they're f***ing doctored. KZ2 just looks better because it's been in development for like a hundred years on brand new technology, and BDs ...
EA has definitely shown some balls lately what with all the new IPs they're backing. I think it's unfortunate to categorize Brutal Legend as a creative risk s it is in a very popular genre. A little blood never hurts a game's consumer appeal either.
I for one am excited as hell for this game, and I've never really been a die-hard Schafer fan. Mostly that's because the puzzle-adventure genre isn't really that stimulating to me. But a bloody action-adventure game based on the rock...
Actually, there is COG armor in the limited edition too, and I've heard that the Lancer is a gun you can find (or was it a sword?).
Master Chief isn't playable at all. These pictures are of the "Armor of Hal", and are only available in the debug or special edition versions of Fable. They have no game play effect whatsoever, and are just there as an easter egg for the lulz. The only time the armor will ever effect you is when you walk into Bowerstone and the first person you see lets you know how stupid they think you look (true story). There is also supposedly some COG armor later in the game for people who buy ...
And I wonder if anyone who says that really understands the nature of good competition.
Good competition is when a company, (Let's say a jam company for this analogy) Smuckers, goes and makes a new strawberry jam to compete with Jif's strawberry jam. Now you get 2 different kinds of strawberry jam to choose from, and that's a good thing. So you become a Smuckers man because it tastes better to you than Jif (and you're pretty sure that Jif jam is made from babies).
He answered his own questions in the stupid article. It doesn't make sense for Sony to push the PS3 (which is sold at a loss) over a stand alone blu-ray player (which is sold at a profit), EVERYONE who gives a crap about online console gaming knows that PSN is free, and Sack Boy is the becoming the fastest recognition-garnering mascot since Mario.
You really want to know what the PS3 needs to do to become top dog of this gen? It needs to go back in time, release dev kits in 200...
Yeah, the PS3 version is softer, but I could actually see that being a plus for BioShock. The whole game is extremely stylized and a little softness will just make it look more like a dream sequence. Agree or not, this is a fantastic game, and this subtle difference shouldn't be cause enough for anyone to not play it.
Everyone should be happy. The 360 got its exclusive system seller, and now the PS3 gets the hand-me-down with a few bells and whistles. What's not to love?
I don't think Ben tried to "slam" anyone as far as I can tell. He just pointed out that Lionhead sent a letter with every review copy asking reviewers to rate not only their own, but also another person's experience. That is something that, as a game reviewer myself, I find really interesting.
There was some language in the article that might lead someone to believe that Lionhead was asking reviewers to withhold judgment until after the patch for online co-op has been r...
Point well taken. Although I imagine that new gamers are mostly created the same way I was, which is some older kid (be they family, friend, or foe) who is really into games shows you his favorite and BOOM! Hardcore gamer for life.
It was Pac Man.
