As far as Sony's advertising goes, so far I've seen 2 Resistance 2 commericals just tonight alone and I've seen Resistance 2 commercials about every other day since the game released.
But now that I think about it, even back in the PS2 era, I really don't remember Sony advertising games to death or hyping up games. I remember seeing Jak and Daxter commercials, God of War commercials, and a few other Sony games, but I really don't remember Sony advertising a lot of games last gen....
When the Dark Knight comes out on Blu-ray in about 3 weeks, I want to hear the anaylsts have to say then...
"B..Bu.. But Blu-ray wont last... H..hhoww did The Dark Knight sell over a MMmmilllion units on Blu-ray within a few weeks on Blu-ray"
Give it a rest critics.
More HDTV adopters = More Blu-ray adopters.
Amazon.com is selling a Sony Blu-ray player for $222.97.
@Hellangelzx,
Burnout wouldn't be a severe threat because the cars used in Burnout aren't Official Licensed Cars like in Gran Turismo.
I'm not 100% sure why Car Manufacturers don't want too see car damage on Licensed Cars in games, but to put it simply, a lot of them probably just don't want to see the cars that they developed and engineered to be torn apart and broken down in a very realistic manner.
I remember that Team SOHO (the developers behind The ...
I seriously don't care if the full version of Gran Turismo 5 has damage or not because I've enjoyed every other GT game on the Playstation platform without it and I enjoyed GT5P greatly without it. Not having damage in GT5 won't be a deal breaker for me and I'm sure it wont be a deal breaker for the other millions around the world that have enjoyed Gran Turismo.
If Gran Turismo 5 has damage or not, either way it's going to be one of the top selling PS3 games this generation becau...
"Wouldn't hurt for them to go to talk to Turn 2. "
First of all, it's Turn 10, not "Turn 2".
And second of all, Gran Turismo is on a much higher level than Forza.
I agree with you too bee2427. The RROD and the 360's hardware failures in the exact reason why I don't have a 360 either. I know that the RROD is less frequent now, but I just don't want to take a chance on it.
If I ever did buy a 360, I would get the Elite and I just don't want to spend $399 on a console that isn't as reliable as the PS3. The Elite model is supposedly more reliable than the other models, but it's still not 100% RROD free. When the 360 becomes 100% RROD free, th...
To me it seems like anyone with a 360 that plans on installing most of the games they already have or most of the games they plan on getting might as well get a 120GB Hard drive because the hard drive space will get eaten up quick.
LOL, I can't even imagine how big the optional install will be for Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360. If Lost Odyssey is a 23GB installation, I'm thinking that FFXIII on the 360 will be at least 25GB-30GB or more. SE said that they are taking full adv...
I doubt that Microsoft will ever stop charging a yearly fee for Xbox Live,but I do think that they could afford to drop the yearly fee because more than likely Microsoft is already profiting from Xbox 360 console sales and I think that they could at least drop the price to around $25-$30 bucks a year.
Microsoft's business model is a more profitable one, but I think that Sony's business model overrall is better for the consumer in the long run and will eventually become profitable...
@ Fox01,
The 20GB and 60GB PS3 models and early 80GB PS3 models were backwards compatible and the PS2 didn't start dying then. Even if all of the PS3's right now were backwards compatible, the PS2 still would be selling at the same rate.
Blu-ray doesn't need saving and the format has done well so far.
Just this week I saw a Wal-mart T.V. commercial and they were advertising Blu-ray players and Blu-ray DVD's. If Walmart starts pushing Blu-ray, then I'm sure some people will be getting into Blu-ray if they haven't already.
The Dark Knight is this years biggest movie and I'm sure it will shatter Blu-ray sales records... if The Dark Knight can't get more people into Blu-ray, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy...
I'm a hardcore gamer, but I don't fit any of those categories.
The categories they listed are just the "Sterotypical Hardcore Gamer" but I'm more of a "Cool Hardcore Gamer" and not the Nerdy type.
Maybe one day SquareEnix will wake up and release a JRPG on the PS3 so they can actually make some damn money.... They still haven't announced a date for the PS3 version of The Last Remnant.
I don't know what the heck is up with Square's growing relationship with Microsoft, but their games will always sell more on the Sony and Nintendo platform, and those are the platforms they should focus on the most.
Meh, Circuit City closings mean nothing to me, but I might go check out some Circuit City stores to see if they have any big sales.
I never shop at Circuit City and have only been inside a Circuit City store just one time.
For me it's Best Buy > Circuit City.
Yep, I've seen the PS3 commercial for Mirrors Edge a few times.
These comparison videos are just lame and do nothing but fuel flamewars. Both versions look great.
I don't think that video comparisons for Multiplatform games are even needed UNLESS both games are optimized to the max for each particular platform.
@i am the truth,
You say that you haven't seen a single Resistance 2 advertisement?
I've seen Resistance 2 commercials several times over the past week or so. You live in Europe and that's probably why you haven't seen any R2 commercials, but Sony HAS been advertising Resistance 2 as well as Motorstorm Pacific Rift and LittleBigPlanet here in the U.S. in T.V. ad's.
I saw a Resistance 2 commercial last night while watching the football game, and that's a...
@Kleptic,
I've heard many Xbox 360 owners say that they'll jump ship to PS3 for Killzone 2.
I think a lot of them want Killzone 2 to flop or think that KZ2 will flop just because of the way that Killzone 1 turned out, but Killzone 2 is VERY polished, the game runs solid, and KZ2 has some of the best graphics to date on consoles. Any Xbox 360 fan that thinks KZ2 is going to be a flop based upon KZ1 is just living in denial and is living in the past because Killzone 2...
The Playstation 3 is going to have a major start to 2009 with Killzone 2 that's for sure. With so many games that has come out this Fall, Sony made the right decision by delaying KZ2 for a couple of months... plus, if Sony didn't delay KZ2, I think that Resistance 2 might not have gotten the attention that it deserved at the time.
Killzone 2 is one of the top games that I've been anticipating ever since I got my PS3 at launch, and the wait is almost over.... just 3 more months to...
@ Foxgod,
You do know that the Final Fantasy games have almost always sold more in Japan right?
Final Fantasy XIII will sell more on the Playstation 3, period. ANY JRPG will sell more if it's on the PS3. Multiplatform games do tend to sell more on the 360 (obviously), but JRPG's on the 360 struggle to reach a million, even with it's larger installbase.
Final Fantasy XIII more than likely will sell over 3 million units just in Japan alone for the PS3, and...
