To add some more food for thought, I do believe Xbox One will hit 1080p but it is an inferior machine to the PS4 and no low level API is going to change that as PS4 is constantly updating their libraries as well. Both consoles will get better looking games as time passes but one will remain a bit ahead. Whether you care about that extra "oomph" is up to you. But be aware that more power doesn't just mean better graphics.
@2pacalypsenow That's not quite how console development works. A lot of people seem to believe that developers develop on off the shelf PCs with similar specs and that was the case before the final devkits were available and there's some truth to it -- but it's not telling the whole story.
With console devkits you are using low level API libraries completely customized for that console, which is why console exclusives always look better than console multiplatform...
@thereapersson You mean like Infamous Second Son that looks as good and in some cases better than the E3 build? Or Killzone that was upgraded from both the February PS4 unveiling and the E3 build to release?
Yeah Forza 5 was downgraded (and Watch Dogs looks like it might have been) but don't say it's the norm when there's no proof of it.
Exactly, strong light sources cast realtime, self-shadow casting shadows. Only diffuse night lighting and completely overcast weather has no real-time self-shadow casting -- by studio's choice as it makes sense-- but you do get them when you get close to very bright sources like DUP beams.
I watched some of the video and holy sh**, best looking game I have seen -- not exaggerating. I downloaded the video, I must resist watching it but not sure if I can.

WHY DID THEY CHANGE HIS FACE?! I am meant to sound like I am screaming because it's really annoying. He had so much character in his face and now he looks absolutely generic.
I mean why?! Why change a character you have been marketing for nearly two years?! This is not Aiden, this is some cheap generic portrait of an actor that wouldn't be fit to star in anything but a B-movie.
Do you guys see any of this hoopla going on in any other games? Look at all other games and there's not downgrade talk. People called Watch Dogs out as a downgrade because they see it.
When Ubisoft showed off the game in February a year ago, they made a promise of how it would look. Killzone looked better at release than at the February event because it was only using 4GB of memory at the February event.

I think it sounds like the delay is much longer than what was initially announced. They said early 2014, it's no longer early 2014 after March. And when they asked is "it coming out in 2014?" he couldn't even confirm that. I mean hopefully he was just playing it really safe, but I think those comments are what people are worried about.
@ArchangelMike I personally hope you are right. What I am concerned about is how dry this spring/summer looks like for next-gen games. After Infamous, we have Watch Dogs which I am skeptical of right now. I am looking forward to Child of Light. What else is there? I was hoping we'd get Dying Light, Driveclub, The Crew, Deep Down and Witcher 3 was at some point due late spring, so was Destiny. I want games to play on my new machine!
I could understand resolutions between 720p-900p if the game looked absolutely amazing but it doesn't. It looks archaic. I am not saying don't enjoy it, but it really isn't a good looking game either technically or artistically.
That has nothing to do with platform choice, I thought Ryse was a fantastic looking game that lacked in gameplay.

I was coming in here to say I was personally looking forward to Destiny way more than Titanfall and I can see I am not the only one. I thought it was ridiculous when Gametrailers put Titanfall as the number one most anticipated next-gen title.
A game that looks as dated as Titanfall should not run at 792p. If you are not concerned about "next-gen experiences" I am not sure why you're even interested in the XboxOne and PS4. Ryse is still the best example of what the XboxOne is capable of, graphics wise. I bought Titanfall for PC but it sure as hell isn't for the graphics I feel like I am buying a late last-gen title. A fun looking last-gen title but a last-gen title nonetheless.

Sort of on topic, I really enjoyed Sonic Allstars Transformed. One of the better karting games I've played with a great career mode. Enjoyed it more than the recent Mario Kart outings but Mario Kart 8 looks good.

He looks really average now whereas last year he looked really interesting. I'm really bummed out by Watch Dog's re-reveal and I hope it isn't as bad as it appears to be.
Ubisoft; If you think Watch Dogs current state is good enough (if the latest footage is representative of PS4/Xb1 footage) then you should have a look at Infamous.
That bar is just a cover up. They didn't want to show the map and other HUD elements that might go there.
I agree that if she was forced out then that's really bad. Creative differences is one thing but you have to respect what she's contributed to the company over the years.
I remember leading up to Uncharted's release, there weren't that many believers. It was branded as Dude Raider, that the gunplay was weak when the press got their hands on. But the writing was strong (and of course the graphics for a first-gen PS3 title) and contributed hugely to its appeal. ...
I'm wondering if rain/water will be another power. That's the only other thing I see there's an abundance of. I don't know, going to stay away from videos until I get it in my hands. This is the game I've been looking forward to since I got my PS4.
The one thing I seem to be missing from Infamous 2 are the super cool cinematic camera angles in combat. They don't really seem to be there from what I've seen.
Good news for gamers. Hopefully both will have a strong showing. Based on history I feel Sony will have a very strong showing considering what's coming up (VR, Uncharted, The Order, Santa Monica glimpse, Media Molecule should show something based on last year's February event and maybe this is the year for The Last Guardian). If Microsoft has a strong showing I'll be picking up an Xbox One despite their terrible PR. Excited about seeing more of Quantum Break.
