Wow, wonder what Hayter is really thinking. If it's all sarcasm, or if he's really holding a grudge.
MGS V seems very different from the rest of MGS series in a number of ways. Sure it has elements from each, but overall it feels very different. I don't blame Kojima going with Keifer for a more subdued Big Boss (personally don't think it was a money issue but could be). Others seem to be doing a lot more talking in this one, like Ocelot.

Disagree. Love the yellow filter. Think the game was one of the best looking at E3 after the top dogs.
@Testfire I don't think that's true. There's a huge range of diverse successful games out there. Recent massive success that's as far away from military FPS you can get is The Witcher 3. Before that Bloodborne. Then you have Batman which you can guess is going to be a huge success and is looking to play fantastic. Then we have Ori and the Blind Forest that has sold well for an indie title (I love it).
People love to generalize it seems, but there's a huge ...
They even made it overcast to make things worse. I think the game will look like 2014, but not 2013. The dark zone with no sunlight will look like shit because of art direction/design. If you cut all electricty and make it overcast there's no interesting lighting.
Worst area/weather they could have chosen for an E3 demo when they already under fire from downgrading their games from their initial showings.
Meanwhile, Star Wars looks freaking amazing at 60f...
Those graphics are possible. Uncharted 4 shows it, so does Horizon (unless those games get downgraded). Ryse is pretty darn near the same quality visuals wise. Only thing I never expected to make it was the level of anti-aliasing in the first video. But the current version they are showing is worse looking than other current gen games. It's disappointing.
However, having said that, showing the game in a dark area with very muted lighting doesn't do the game any favor...
Problem with Skyrim mods is that it makes the whole game look inconsistent.
Besides, Witcher 3 is a gorgeous game and very few places do I see downgrades. Specifically the Wild Hunt. I have no idea why they changed the look of them, or the lighting in their cut-scenes as technically it makes no sense. Apart from changing the character designs, it's as if they didn't know back then the Wild Hunt was going to bring winter with them which makes no sense as they must have...
Yeah, Jaffe is underneath it all a servant of the man in my opinion. He doesn't believe, for an example, that people have the right to complain about working conditions on a game they've slaved away on. He's very careful, and that's why he keeps getting games and stay on Sony's good side. His "brutal honesty" is a bit of a charade.
Having said that, like you, I agree with the sentiment and don't want insiders spoiling game announcements. I ha...
Yet it looks worse than the retail Witcher 3, Infamous Second Son, Ryse, Killzone Shadowfall, Driveclub... so I don't really agree. Yes Witcher 3 was downgraded a bit, but still looks way better than this.
They release the new characters way too infrequently. By the time Predator is out I'll have been playing Batman for a while. I was under the impression we'd see Barracka, Rain and others from the Story mode at some point too. Disappointed with the release schedule.
Hmm, the PS4 pushing this game at 60fps at 1920x1080p (it achieves 120 fps with reprojection)... expect a downgrade. Up to date PCs will probably be able to run it, but I don't know if Rift uses reprojection or if you have to hit 90fps which is its spec for recommended viewing. Keep your expectations a little bit in check. Hitting 60fps will get "easier" as developers get used to the hardware.
This game definitely seems like it would be really fun in VR though. ...
On Topic, Visual Works has fallen behind when it comes to CG cinematics. Digic Pictures are by far the best. They have done all (but one) the Assassin's Creed cinematics, and the most recent Witcher one with the witch in the barn. Visual Works used to be my favorite, and they are still great, but not as good as Digic.
The fall damage is a bit overkill. You can get damage from very small heights. I wish they increased the threshold height a bit in a patch. I don't want to have to roll when I fall from barely 6 feet (~190cm).
@MysticStrummer I'm not sad they're not what they used to be. In what way would you want the previous reboot of Tomb Raider to have been more like the old ones? I loved the reboot. I also love Uncharted. Yes, they are now similar games, but I am going to be playing both of them. I enjoy Uncharted a bit more than the reboot, but the reboot was still very fun.
So funny to read that when "arcade perfect" used to be something to aspire to. I used to love arcades as a kid, but I am very happy that home consoles have taken over completely. I'm not the nostalgic type.
Wondered about this too Blaze929. I've known some high profile AAA art directors joining mobile game companies, and since I know how stressful this industry can be I can only guess it's usually stress/money combo. Here's how I see stress levels in the entertainment industry for artists and programmers based on my experience:
Highest Stress: VFX for feature films/commercials
Second Highest: Games
Third: Mobile

They outlined the DLC right from the beginning, people knew what they were getting when they bought the game, what would be released for free and what the paid DLC would get them (except for the brands of the cars). I enjoyed this game, haven't bought any of the DLC though. It's one of the best looking current gen console games, and its gameplay was fun. So I consider it a "complete" game, but a complete edition would be something like game of the year edition (that everyone...
I like it vanilla so far based on the ones I've seen. Anyway, always great to have options.
You must hate every movie you've ever watched since chromatic aberration ruins visual experiences for you.
I am totally with you. I love the world, the lore, everything. Even the difficulty. But I work a lot, and there are also other games to play. There's only so much time. I would love to experience the full game without investing tonnes of hour, even if there's a shame ending for doing so.
Also, developers, if you don't want people to say your game is short, make it difficult!
It shouldn't have taken them 8 months to figure out that she wasn't the right fit and to dump her. That's pretty brutal.
All things seem to have worked out for the best, Nolan says in the interview that Amy is working on a Star Wars Uncharted type game at Visceral so we should all be winners in the end.
Just ouch to be dumped after 8 months of working on the story and it not being kept. If they didn't like UC3, they could have let her go earli...
