Blu-ray remote..... please!!!
I'm interested in VR and seeing what game developers can do with it.
However, with Facebook now the owner of Oculus, I'd much rather see that VR development go to other VR devices.
No mention of the pay-to-win micro-transactions. Did they take those out?
Destiny is also on XBox One, and from what I hear, has near identical visuals. Why would it not be a system seller there as well?
(Or is it the timed exclusive content that is the system seller? Seems doubtful.)
"I think I've finally learned my lesson though, no more preorders."
... and no more digital "purchases", as you now see the value in the ability to resell the game if you don't like it or get bored with it.
I'd rather sequels than paid DLC:
- It forces the developer to make a game that stands on its own as a complete experience, day one.
- If the company is planning on sequels, the original product must also be good enough to make people want that sequel. Same goes for each sequel.
- DLC then becomes something to keep a product fresh after its initial release and to entice additional purchases of the game, not something to milk people who h...
If in their mind, the asking price for the game is really $100, then I'd rather they just sell the game for that price and be done with it. I will not spend $60 dollars for half a game and a vending machine, and I am not going to get sucked into spending on DLC when they won't or can't tell me what I will ultimately be spending to make purchase really feel complete.
For the DLC proposition, it means I will have have paid a very high price on a game for which only...
While they are on Blu-ray, where is support for the PS3 Blu-ray remote?
@Why o why
"Ultimately the performance will improve but right now, as it stands, something is holding the x1 back and most theories lead to the esram being one of the culpable factors"
esRAM is not "holding back" the X1. Saying that about the fastest memory in any of the consoles just does not make sense.
It is other specs of the systems that "hold it back", and just 32MB of esRAM that is only slightly faster ...
If they let it, the Internet would do the remake for them.
I think revolutionizing DLC did more harm than good.
I've already drawn my line in the sand: if your game has micro-transactions in it that involve progression or gameplay mechanics in any way, I WILL NOT buy it.
If the "cheat" is an option that makes the game better or something that will accommodate different skill levels or time commitments, they should have put it in the game to begin with. If not, than why are they charging people for something with no benefit, or as they put it, "does not affect the ga...
Knowing that there is DLC and/or micro-transactions can change the perception of value quite a bit.
Release something and truthfully state that there is no DLC nor any micro-transactions, and there is value in knowing that I am getting a complete product that will make many games worth $60.
You could release that exact same disc, but announce or keep the window open for paid DLC, and the value perception of that initial $60 drops quite a bit.
In PR speak, the definition of "controversial" is, "We know consumers hate it for good and valid reasons, but it makes us money so we'll do it in spite of that."
This will definitely NOT be a day-one purchase for me anymore. I listened to the full interview, and, in addition to micro-transactions, there are just too many red flags that make me think I am purchasing a DLC vending machine.
I'll wait six months or so to see how that ...
There is a distinction to be made between the length of a game and the amount of time you will spend playing it.
Back in the NES/SNES days, there were a lot more platformers that would put you back at the beginning when you ran out of lives. Those games probably only had an hour or two of real content, but you'd spend countless hours getting good enough at the game until you could complete it with a limited number of lives.
Compare that to the typical ga...
This should not be hard to implement if publishers, MS, and Sony really wanted to. Just provide an option that will unlink the game from one account and link it to another. Could even do it with DLC. They could even allow you to set a borrowing period.
It is all really an entry in a computer system telling your machine whether it is allowed to play a game or not. Because they have boxes with good security, they can program whatever rules they want.
The pu...
Hate 'Bait and Switch'. Does that compute?
I am not comfortable "buying" anything that requires permission from some far off server to use, nor anything to which that said server can revoke my access.
I'd be surprised if anyone could compete with those companies too, considering that for wired service, they are monopolies in the areas they "serve".
This EULA does not seem different from numerous others, but that does not change the validity of what he is saying about them.
The fact that company can call a purchase a "license", and dictate the legal and illegal uses of something you have purchased just by having a bunch of text popup that to which you must "agree" or lose access to all functionality.
And this is after the transaction has already been completed and the product opened, ...
