AA score seems just about right. It looks like a solid game-- but this game is nowhere near the Dark Cloud series. I don't know why Level 5 decided to go with this instead. I am sure it's fun, and I'll pick it up, but I hope they bring Dark Cloud 3.
I haven't been following the game too much just because it's not as interesting as the world of Dark Cloud, but Level 5 is still Level 5 and they do good RPGs.
Didn't expect something close to AAA.

I hate how this game keeps getting compared to God of War as if God of War is the first and only game to be had. I understand that it borrows heavily from GoW but is that a bad thing? Who wouldn't want to emulate the success of that game?

Hey man I can't speak for everybody. I know that there are people who will come on to one of his videos and auto-bash him. I am certainly against that.
For me, as long as people are reasonable it is fair. I expect HHG to be reasonable, but I find that he isn't. In the same way I expect people who dislike him to have reasonable reasons, and sometimes they just bash him based on his look or whatever.
I can't argue for everybody and I was only arguing on a personal leve...
But they are all so, so, so poor.
An incredible amount of hiding spots, crap that just gets in your way. Ugh, and yes the lag is infuriating. And when I say infuriating I mean it:
Ground War is their biggest mode utilizing all 18 players. It's a lagfest.
Host migration is lame, sometimes it doesn't even work and the game just ends.
I've never been more pissed at a game.

Imagine a Demon's Souls review without reviewing online-- online easily makes up a good chunk of Demon's Souls. I can't imagine the game without it.

Just because MAG made PS3 gamers all defensive doesn't mean you should be defensive of all games.
The last time I checked it was PS3 gamers themselves getting upset with 7s and 8s that MAG was receiving. Both of which are GOOD scores but apparently not good enough for some PS3 fans who always expect AAA. Why is it that a game must get 9+ to be considered a good game?

Gaming may be full of kids but that doesn't mean older gamers are doomed. Come on Patcher it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.
Take LBP for example. Little kids hate it because it makes them feel little. Kids want to be older gamers. They want to play the blood and gore, they want the Gears, they want the Call of Duty.

It's clear that there is a big issue at hand though. People can freely switch factions meaning the PMC tally for SVER just goes up higher.
The solution I would think would be a way to factor in the #of players and games played in relation to other PMCs.
I guess Zipper assumed there would be some balance but if one PMC is overpowered then it's going to suck big time.

As for ODST, many websites rated it high like that.
It got a 9.0 from GS despite that being the same score as Demon's Souls.
The thing is, you can't compare scores like that.
Looking squarely at ODST I would say that it was certainly not a game worth the $60, but reviews were still high. Ultimately that's the biggest fault with ODST: value vs. content

I doubt he spent $60 to play a game he wasn't dedicated to. Maybe he just didn't like it or more likely he's making a more general claim (he doesn't say that he himself was not dedicated, did he?) for readers to decide.

Hey, I have no problem with his style or cultural backgrounds, but the guy just makes some of the worst points ever and does a poor job trying to support them.

It's already been accepted as one of those games that you either like or hate.
The execution of 256 players is successful, the only problem is whether the reviewer appreciates it or doesn't.
The thing with reviews is that they also take into account a whole bevy of things like graphics, sound, etc. Both of those categories haven't been MAG's strongest suits which likely brings down scores to 7's.

The game is astonishing, but if you want what I think sucked:
-Bad stealth AI (good stealth mechanics though-- killing in stealth is awesome)
-Derivative boss battles (twice with the yeti creatures/guardians and even the final boss resulted in running in circles blind-firing)
-Multiplayer quitting (though the inclusion of MP itself had me so happy)
-Cover mechanics sometimes cumbersome (usually in tight corners)

I find that a lot of MAG reviews that criticize the game get bashed for not playing the game right or not understanding the mechanics.
