That depends on how big the screen is and what functions it has,is it for gaming or non gaming activities.
@reynod if rumors are true than Sony is using of the components for the ps4,so they are not investing a lot of money on exotic architectures.

We don't know what Sony could afford,as oct 2012,there are some amd gpu that are under $200,hd 7850 2Gb.hd 7850 1Gb,hd7770 1Gb,hd7750 1Gb,prices are $189,$169,$119,$99,prices would have to adjusted because Sony are just buying the gpu it self.
The ps3 has 256Mb main memory,256Mb of VRAM for a total of 512Mb,the 360 has 512Mb of unified ram.
@Kane but Mario,luigi mansion,resident evil,Mario kart,zeld,were are all console games,as long as the developer can execute the game well,then what's the problem.
In the long run this forced them to release the wiiu earlier,unless this was their plan but I don't think so because they weren't making as much money with the wii.
Both playstation systems came out before both of nintendo's so couldn't do anything on the hardware side to make any deficit.
@ideath That much ram is some what necessary for the operating system and CPU,consoles are designe around efficientcy so the can do more with at least half that ram.
Sony & Ms could make a console more powerful than the wiiu and stay in the same price range,this is based of amd tech,they can go lower but unlikely,hd 7770,a10-5700 apu and for motherboard,it's gonna be based off of the fm2 motherboard.Price for the components are,gpu $130,apu $130,the motherboard varies in price from cheapest to expensive,$55-130,for ram 4Gb of stacked ddr3,the prices have to be adjusted because they are working with custom parts and Ms & Sony have enough skills...

Your complaints about why game are not better are developers choice and personal preference,a dev can't make ever body happy but they can reach a majority of people.
@logic that's difficult to say,because the transition from last to this gen,in terms of what they could do with graphics is huge and some of sony's first party dev haven't ship a game it two years which gives them time to craft beautiful games.
@nuke yeah,sega didn't have a built in screen with the dream cast console,if Sony did copied the wii mote than why didn't nintendo release the designed first?(I'm talking why didn't nintendo release the move design first sense Sony "copied them.") if you knew anything about them you would know how they work and the biometric sensor would be built in and have a better gaming function than the vitality sensor.
