The console market would go the way of the PC Game market. There are studios within console development who thrive on independency (Square-Enix, I look at you.)

Microsoft should just put in a shock bid for them with the money they saved failing to buy Yahoo, that'd shake the industry up a little.

You define genre-breaking by mentioning a ps2 game, one game that isnt released yet and two games that have barely been seen as of yet.

I can agree the 360 needs to diversify, but its beginning to do that, especially in the RPG genre, even if not all exclusively. Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon. And on the horizon, Fable 2, Fallout 3, Tales of Vesparia, Infinite Undiscovery amongst others. All Points Bulletin has the potential to be something pretty groundbreaking if ...

Has only 3 great titles.... in your opinion.

Different gamers like different experiences, you can't look at a formats software line-up, point at it, say "that sucks" and expect it to be fact.

Of course people aren't stupid... they know each format has a good line-up depending on their experiences and tastes.

I think Mistwalker hit a nail on the head with Lost Odyssey. The gameplay at best was "if it isnt broke dont fix it".

But the storytelling captured the player. Simply because they hired a respected novelist to do it. I think the best way to change the storylines of gaming is be able to compile a narrative on par with that of halfway decent novels. The skill is carrying that storyline through, some games have done it well, and certainly Japanese Role Playing Games have...

Singling out Microsoft is no good here. The sequel is for both 360 and PS3.

It's from psxextreme.com and it includes the phrase "get over it 360 owners" spouts on about "clarification" the biasedness is nauseating.

I dont really think it will come to the 360 myself, Sony would dip into the wallet to keep that baby exclusive.

But that article was just debate-mongering at its finest.

Code/Graphics does not take up that much space on a disk, what does is the cutscenes hence Lost Odyssey was on 4 disks.

Now most MGS games were able to be completed in 4 or 5 hours if the cutscenes were skipped.

There isnt enough room on the disk because again, MGS4 is going to be heavily loaded up with cut-scene after cut-scene.

Which is inevitable like Resident Evil is. Will always have Dante. He is the icon of DMC, but Nero was well received enough that his legacy may continue too.

It could take the series in a similar direction to Resident Evil. Several different games with different protagonists.

Plus it would be nice to see a prequel to DMC4 covering the plot to Nero getting that Devil Arm. Plus its inevitable there will be another game with Dante. Or maybe Lady will end up with he...

You never saw GDC, plenty is known about Fable 2 now aside from its release date and the PvP.

Alan Wake was announced couple years back but I'll concede not much is known about it right now.

Xbox360 has a few rpg's coming, Lost Odyssey just out, Tales of Vesperia, Fable 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant (albeit not an exclusive) possibly a sequel to Blue Dragon or Mass Effect.

The other genres it have plenty, though again I'll concede that no...

The better format lost, again. HD-DVD had all the features Blu-ray discs are still struggling to adopt now.

Casual consumer only sees popularity, not beyond the box.

be a funny co-incidence but Reggie is just as pro-nintendo as even Miyamoto ever since he joined after leaving VH1. He's one of their more loyal employees, and judging from the article probably one of the more sensible.

Some of it boils down to Activision and EA being in direct competition for monopoly of the industry development-wise now. They dont want to risk not supporting Wii for fear of EA getting a one-up on them in profit opportunity.

Gears of War 2 is also coupled with a myriad of other exclusives, Fable 2, Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2, All Points Bulletin amongst other big names. I think your knowledge is limited there.

There probably was some form of contract between Rare, MS and Activision. However we don't know the degree of that silly threat by Iwata.

My guess is it involved the threat of prohibiting Activision from releasing future titles on Nintendo formats. Remember Nintendo could well survive off first-party games. So the company that would get hurt would be Activision.

Regardless, the whole fiasco was poorly handled by Iwata in every way, shape and form. I can see many ...

Is a fun fad. Why not enjoy those past classics? Look at the hype surrounding that FFVII rumoured remake that got quashed eventually.

It would have been a great opportunity for those that didnt own an N64 to get that experience of a genre-defining shooter.

It wouldnt have the same impact as Goldeneye, but it would be a good opportunity for that middle finger salute if Perfect Dark was released.

If they had said right at the start "No." That's business. To wait until right when the game was close to completion to say no? That's cheap competition.

If they had a legal stance after waiting that long, thats fair enough. To simply threaten to damage a relationship with another company to halt a release? thats unethical.

For all the good "niche market and non-competitive" image Nintendo puts out, that proves they're just as cutthroat with t...

I worry that consoles these days are losing sight of the term "game console" they seem to want to target the media market in a lot of ways, while to the hardcore, this is business sense. I think it'll alienate the casual consumer. Not just Sony, Microsoft and its deal with BT and IPTV is just as much to blame. This is why Wii is selling like it is, its focusing on what consumers want to do; gaming.

Much worse, than companies like Microsoft when it comes to monopolising to avoid competition.

Instead of whole entire developers, they should focus on game licenses, its a more civilised business practice and far healthier for the industries.

Actually, thats what Microsoft should start doing too.
