Nintendo is spending money buying servers as well as paying employees to maintain them. THIS IS AN EXPENSE, and a damn LARGE one. So answer me, why should the spoils of said expenses be given to you for free? They owe you NOTHING. As for the games, oh those too should be free? As for the phone app for chat that makes so much sense, they are a family company and don't want to be associated with the rape jokes racist tirades and other sad side effects of online gaming, at least by separating it as it's own thing it sort of absolves them of responsibility for the 13yos that do nothing but threaten to rape and kill you.
