well... not true. studios build assets high rez and optimize them down for performance. I know this because I create and have created a lot of this stuff myself. That may be true but this assumes that only exclusives matter. Rockstar games for example released a little game called grand theft auto that has definitely sold more than any naughty dog game with way more content, more modes and scored just as well as uncharted. Same with red dead redemption. People keep forgetting how important third party games are too and in this area ms will have an advantage thanks to a more powerful console being able to bring definitive versions of multiplatform game...

Whoever said it would is a dumbass. I think even MS said it was equivalent to about a $1600 pc in terms of performance (obviously due to custom silicon/hw efficiencies) but last time I checked there were $2500 pcs that are way more powerful than $1600 ones. I mean Jeeez someone got pcars2 running at 8k/60 on a pc. Pretty sure no console can come close to that. It's still the most powerful console though and that's perfectly fine for those of us who don't have interest in a pc rig ...
If you have a 4k tv (of which I have 2) you want 4k content period. A better analogy would be having a 4x4 truck ready for anything and having to waste it by not having any mountains. HD has been around for a looooong time and once you have 4k, it makes seeing a 1080p screen look like you're watching VHS tapes.
What's childish is pretending that nobody has 4k tvs and that nobody wants them or pretending that the launch gen8s were good enough. I wish Xbox and ps would have supported 4k from initial launch... or been ready for it. The gen 8 launches were already the lowest power jumps of any console generation. The pro and one x were corrections.
