Doesn't it occur to anyone that CELL was just a stepping stone not the final end all be all thing? The idea is to move computing forward right? how big of a leap did cell do when it came out over what then was available on the market?
See IBM and their partners are going to use the knowledge they gained while making the Cell to make something better, and all the knowledge that the developers attained while programing for the cell will be useful too
And yes both Sony...
Sad thing is that if you have friends who you play online with and they only have 360's its much easier to get one then to tell them all to go get a ps3, and if that game is halo or GoW then you can't do that.
It be nice if it was that simple but some players just have too many buddies that have only a 360 or game on a 360, best wishes to you hope you have better luck this time
yeah Game Sharing is totally broken, should not be allowed.
its a common practice for a company to start working on future products when its upcoming product is close to release. it is dumb to wait years to start working on the new os, besides its not like they'll only support 7 for 2 years,
THEY WANT TO HAVE IT LAST AS LONG AS POSSIBLE TO MILK THE MOST OUT OF IT, TRUST ME THEY IT IS AGAINST THEIR BEST INTERESTS TO HAVE TO RELEASE A NEW OS SO SOON AFTER. so please stop crying foul on MS's mark.
I find it hard to disagree with you, when ever i watch a ps3 review no matter who does it, IGN Gamespot, or anyone else they dissect the game to no end and expect that every PS3 game goes leaps ahead of the competition, but for XBox and even Wii they say some bad things but just give it a high score,
Now mind you, a game is only as good as its fun to you but its hard to keep faith in journalism when they pull this crap over and over.
Montrealien you got it right,
here is WoW even tho everyone loves to hate it, has been around for ever and is proven it self both as a popular game and as a profitable game and its #3 to TWO wow clones, granted Aion went a step further but Runes of Magic is a clone.
While Aion might claim the #1 spot someday that day is not today, and no EQ2 on the list, the game is a massive improvement over the original release of EQ2 and is a pretty sweet game.
if my memory is correct, doesn't sony use an SPE to keep hackers out? having a processor dedicated to keeping people out is going to make it a bit harder.
@ Zoot
Actually piracy effect the consumer more then the greedy people, there greedy people have a ton of cash for a reason, they always get paid, the consumer ends up paying more for the product to offset the piracy. So when a gamer goes out shells out 39.99 for a game, part of that cost is to make up for people like you who don't pay for it.
The slew of titles that are out now are rushed ports trying to get max returns, you cant blame sony when some company releases a game on it. give this time and we'll see how it turns out, when devs actually make mini games.
FFXIII Slim i can totally see that system sell like 1-1.5mil ps3's in japan
The gripe with ODST is price not the gameplay, many people have said the gameplay was great, he reviewed the game, which if it had great gameplay should get a 5/5 now we can debate the price of the game all day but at the end of the day if he felt that gameplay was worth 60 more power to him.
You have to realize that EA would be a lot smaller they make most of their money ON SONY AND NINTENDO NOT ON XBOX so their market would shrink, just because EA is like this now doesn't mean that they will stay if purchased by Microsoft, unless you're telling me that Microsoft would still publish games on Sony and Nintendo which makes no sense.
Face it you have to take into account all that would be lost with this acquisition not just transfer all that to Microsoft.
@ Gun
Aion has been out a year in Korea, and WoW had onyxia, and the dungeons to gear up were much harder and way more challenging so players had a way to spend time while other raids came to be.
Frankly to me the biggest gripe about Aion is a lack of deep class customization, the stigma stones are great but they are too limiting and too linear.
@ DJ
its going to be hard for MSFT to get Blu-ray into their system, remember the companies that backed Blu-ray in the beginning know that MSFT was opposing it, if MS didn't back toshiba there may not have been the format war that happened, so in order for MS to get blu-ray they may need to invest in it which would go against what they are trying to do with digital distribution.
Also i don't see Sony letting MS get blu-ray unless they price their system higher then the ps3,...
If this is true Tales has sold almost 1 mil, which is more then all of Sqare games on 360 have done world wide. LET THIS IS BE A LESSON JAPAN JRPG'S ON PS3 NOW!!! sorry for the caps but its hard to ignore that kind of demand for your games, imagine when this game lands in EU and USA. God i'm jrpg starved White Knight needs to come out.
Remember when the 360 was going to bring in the casual market because it was going to let them create and sell t-shirts, who needs games when you can twitter and make your own clothing, only on the 360.
@ Crazyturkey
to say a game is worth it for the fans is to say we need oxygen to live, fans will buy games unless the game is just downright crap, however to give a high score to a 5hr game just for the fans doesn't make sense. No doubt this game will sell millions as a massive ps3 fan i will say that it will outsell Uncharted 2, the thing is the scores are a bit too generous.
You can bet that if Sony did this with say Killzone ODST or what not they would get slamme...
If it comes to US i'll get it i'm drying to play some JRPG's and its about time we start getting them 2010 could be a great year for JRPG's on the ps3, White Knight, FFXIII, Tales Star Ocean 4 which would be amazing.
If there are that many more 360's in the world according to VGCharts then why does EA make way more in revenue on the ps3? They support both systems pretty much on par with one another, you would think that the 360 would have a closer revenue stream not a distant one.
And yes EA is one of the largest publishers on the planet and they make a ton of games for all systems their numbers tell a different story.
WoW whether you hate it or not has pushed the genera forward, its still a fine game, far cry from the poo sock days but still there is plenty to do and the materials are there now that in time we'll see a more polished and a better over all experience.
