Something like Metal Gear is way out of their league, especially for guys who only certify in making a mindless shoot-em-up game that has nothing but gameplay going for it. It is not within everyones capacity to contrive a story/game as deep and as intricate as Metal Gear Solid. It is pretty apparent that the man feels some resentment towards the game as it is something he'll never be able to accomplish in his life-time. Poor guy.
First movie was definitely the best big-screen-adaption of a game I have seen. Better than Resident Evil, Doom, House of Dead, Alone in the Dark, list goes on. Although at some point the movie fell short, but overall it was very pleasing even the element of fright was missing. The author outlines some very solid points about what should be included in the next movie. Especially the part about not showing the monsters right off the bat and using new actors.
His reviews are funny as ever. My favorite will always be his remark about how you can steer-through lamp-posts on city streets in GTA-IV and yet are powerless to take down trees.
But on to the actual review. Every reviewer seems to target Metal-Gear's seemingly complex story knowing many of its other elements are not that much of a bigger deal. I'll never truly understand of what drives people to actually bash a game's story that is both epic and to some extent far fetched, but ...
I can understand low scores for gameplay, but visuals...come on they are pretty neat, slightly better than GTA-IV for crying out loud, why the hell they had to give such a lousy score. Its at least a 6-7. I hope it doesn't stops Atari from discontinuing with the plans for a sequel, but rather learn where they went wrong and make up for it. Also, improve the PS3 version which has a chance of still making the cut.
Wouldn't they? Its funny that such praises for a PS3 game would spark jealousy in the hearts of competitors that they would write whole articles about why and how the game is flawed. It's obviously out of the realms of reality and that's what makes it unique. I guess they would rather enjoy Gears or Halo (their trophies) than an actual worth while story.
that DC Heroes who don't kill will NOT perform "Fatalities" but will have "Brutalities". He doesn't mentions that you can't perform fatality ON DC Heroes.
But will they be as violent as before, given the T-rating? He did say what they have there is already pushing the boundaries of that rating, but who knows. Don't almost all DC characters never kill, Batman, Superman, Flash? It'll be strange that MK pulls off fatalities and DC pulls off Brutalities.
YES! Finally something concrete about the most anticipated game on my list, oh please let it be good.
People always compare it to RE like it was the inventor of the genre, but it just got lucky and came about the right time(RE). Alone in the Dark deserves all the credit really, along with RE for keeping the genre alive(in that case also to Silent Hill) and I seriously hope the title never dies. I hope the new game is better, but from what I heard they were taking inspirations from shows & movies like Lost or Die Hard, that's not what Alone in the Dark was about, but meh. My only suggestio...
Isn't it coming at about the same time as RE-5?
If only this rumor turns out to be true. Bale is a brilliant actor. There is no doubt in my mind that he can pull off Snake. But as David Hayter himself said, something like Metal Gear Solid is difficult to cut down to 2 hour mark, but lets see what happens.
I see it as a possibility. These days who doesn't want to be under M$ wing, whose willing to pay top dollar for quality titles. I hope Sony gets up its care-free butt and keep MGS-4 an exclusive.
the combat system looks impressive, but lets see how it actually holds up with the control scheme. The graphics seem solid enough and appealing.
I'll try the PS-2 version first, naturally since PS3 version isn't available. I hope they improve on PS3.
refine the control scheme and make other improvements in the PS3 version of the game, the extra wait would be justified in that case.
let's hope its not true. We don't a civil to break out among the fan boys.
is because 1: It's easy to develop for, and 2: Microsoft throws money around like trash, who wouldn't want to work with MS? I don't know what Sony's planning, but they better wise-up. Or maybe they have something else in store, who knows.
that people just try and attack PS3 and yet you do not see any of these crap-talks about 360, which frankly is not the Saint of Consoles. At least Sony and its people has the dignity to not to downplay their competitors so harshly.
I have yet to play the game even though I have the copy and installed the game; but didn't play it. I'm planning on playing it tonight right after I come back from The Incredible Hulk movie :D.
It is obvious who needs to actually grow up.
