PS2 gen had multiple games using the 3D sphere world... Galaxys gimmick was nothing new.
I think its time we stopped quoting review scores to justify a games merit. My friend says about 2/3s the challenges in the new Mario are essentially retreads of older Marios, but he does love the game. For me personally I would only get the game to play with friends, since the co-op looks fun. I play puzzle games for new* challenges, or else whats the point?
Even if Shigeru is in just a producing role, hes still a valuable asset. No one should retire until they are over the ...
SC2 has no skill ceiling, LoL on the other hand...
Call of duty has been more influential this generation, with the FPS genre imitating CoD4s innovations, where as Mario has been outshined by the Journeys/Braids/Limbos/Raymans .
Also, why do we need games to be so realistic? FPS like TimeSplitters were so awesome because they did whatever they wanted, 150 playable characters Map editors, 9 game modes, ai teammates ... Hell just make something cool for once. FPS take themselves oh so serious. This author makes some great points but id rather he focused on the worst part about this genre... The singleplayer.
Socom was for me still the best tactical shooter, while Modern Warfare 1 was the best first person shooter for MP. Every game just keeps addin more and more shit, instead of going to the basics.
How about just adding more gameplay that doesnt involve shooting, (this includes SP,) the biggest thing that holds back most FPS is no beta. Entire modes/levels/weapons are broken. Also Positioning has little to no importance now, where as before and like in real combat it is essentia...
Well, Drake, and the characters around him talked to eachother constantly through gameplay sections which is something new. Bioshock Infinite took that idea (albeit more linear,) finally we have games without a silent protagonist. And in terms if actual quality Uncharted 2 and 3 set the bar to a new standard. But no we dont see Uncharted Clones just yet.
Bioshock influenced jack shit. Besides the aesthetics in the circus level in Condemned 2, there really isnt any influence. Those two games spec ops and stanley are literally the only other two, and its questionable at best. CoD is easily the number one spot, hell is there a FPS that didnt change its control scheme to replicate Modern Warfare? And technically CoD started the whole Zombie craze, so there is that.
I might put in Angry Birds or Minecraft to fit that indie spotlig...
English please
I was dissapointed the moment they revealed gameplay. They are sitting on a cash cow, maybe Treyarch will create a new engine and change the pace, but can u imagine if they dont?
Ah yes, who doesnt love playing a game that has three colors, brown, orange brown and gray brown.
God why
No. But I do need some actual good games to play. I traded both infinite and this pile of shit within 3 hours. Can a game have a worse starting level than DP??? I mean maybe MAYBE Pryzm Chapter 1: The Dark Unicorn, but jesusallah.
Yes more articles about DP, we should praise these games that have terrible controls, no level design and graphics from 2002. Who needs to test their game when you can just fall back on "hey man its surreal." Yes thanks for article #29 in the last 3 months, these are great. Alone In the Dark has better mission structure, hell it has a better story and somehow better controls... is that even possible? Hell, you want to see a game even better than both of these?? Check out Silent Hill...
Calling it now, Joel and Ellie build a spaceship and bring their new found dog "Snickers," to infinity and beyond.
Quality > Quantity
because its easy to design. dark souls was like playing in a sewer for the whole game.
dont lie
Hopefully you are joking.
The real question we should be asking is... Are videogame developers finally going to start use smarter enemy A.I. Or do we have to sit through another gen of Spawn and Attack...
You did flanking in Half-Life 1, please continue the upgrades for A.I.
