Nope. In the first year, 360 fans were exclusively enjoying nextgen gaming while Sony fans were playing PS2. This year 360 are enjoying a host of AAA titles while Sony fans are still waiting.
It must be painful for Sony fans. So many good reviews for 360, so many letdowns for PS3.
Even Sony realizes that their games library has nothing to entice people to buy the console. offering free movies is clearly the better option.
I saw this coming. Plan B is in execution - aggressively market PS3 as a blu-ray player since it has flopped as a gaming console.
Halo (1) was conceived to counter Sony's dominance. Halo 3 is released to counter the Wii.
With Mass Effect, there are now 6 solid GOTY contenders, 4 of which are Microsoft exclusives (Forza 2, Bioshock, Halo 3 and Mass Effect), 1 exclusive to Wii (Metroid Prime 3) and 1 multiplatform (Call of Duty 4). A few other multiplatforms may qualify, and I'm thinking hard if there's any exclusive from the Sony camp that might possibly remotely be GOTY contender, but I don't think there is. It is great to be an "Xbot" ain't it?
Wow the power of the cell totally owns! The PS3 version is just slightly less detailed and sharp than the 360 version. The future proof potential is really beginning to show in this decimal percentage increment over the period of a year.
And the worst isn't over for Sony yet.
I suppose you also won't "accept" my criticism that your command of the language is not too good because the word you were looking for should be "accept" and not "except", but that's only to be expected from an unwavering fanboy.
There are some people who just can't accept constructive criticism. Truth is HS is only a decent game, too short on content, too much emphasis on cinematics, nothing particularly outstanding in gameplay. But it is one of the best that PS3 has to offer so far, so the overenthusiasm from the fanboys can be forgiven.
Looking at those numbers you have given, the fall from grace for PS3 is particularly accentuated and the rise of Wii and Xbox360 is particularly dramatic.
Assuming your figures are correct:
(a) In 1 year, Wii has reached 40% of the lifespan sales for Gamecube.
(b) In 2 years, Xbox360 has reached 38% of the lifespan sales of Xbox.
(c) In 1 year, PS3 has reached a measley 3% of the sales of PS2.
Wii isn't a success? PS3 isn't a failure? Don't...
I am not saying they stand any chance to overtake Sony in Japan, but they at least can make their presence felt, take that little bit away from Sony, and that would be enough for now.
I disagree. The time to strike in Japan is now. Sony is at its weakest even in their homeground because Nintendo is completely dominating them. If there is ever a chance to gain any foothold in Japan to win over the high-end gaming fans, it is now. Microsoft is right to persevere.
If GT5 Prologue is a full game, it'd be called GT5. But it is not. Not me being fleeced. Not me being kept waiting for the full game to finally arrive. But I voice my objection on moral grounds.
MS has already won 2006 and 2007 hands down. With this sampling of just some of the Japanese oriented games to come, it appears that the odds are still very much in favour of them to take 2008 as well.
I agree. RPGs stand a better chance at inspiring feelings than hack and slash games since the former are generally more immersive than the latter.
The face may be nice, but the hair's a complete mess. Inspire feelings...? Facial animations alone don't inspire anything except the initial "ahh, that's nice" if gameplay and storyline aren't there.
I didn't think the graphics on Soul Caliber 4 were good from the trailer. DOA4 looked better.
And suddenly, Heavenly Sword doesn't sound very heavenly anymore.
Yeah, its going to be the same reaction when the announcements are made for MGS and FF.
