Not true. The Wii U came out in 2012. The PS4 wasn't even announced until January 2013 and X1 a month or so later. Wii U was intended to compete with PS3/360.
Sad considering the tech inside the PS4/X1 is ancient! I dont give a damn if it is a hybrid, the NX needs to be at least minimum on par with the current consoles on the market. At least with the WII U it was comparable with the PS3/360.

I dont think it would dominate because I feel Nintendo has lost too much good will with core gamers. However it WOULD at least be more appealing to 3rd parties to put their games on the console, which in turn would make it a much more attractive option.
But analogue control for Mario 64 made sense. It actually IMPROVED the gameplay for that game. Now it just seems like Nintendo is trying to create solutions in search of problems by trying to "innovate" just for the sake of it to try and recapture the WII success. I say if Nintendo wants to innovate, they should do it with their software by creating exciting new experiences that cannot be played on anything else. The issue that I see is just who is the NX trying to appeal to? If it's the casual mobile crowd, good luck trying to convince them to carry two mobile devices. It would be like Apple asking iPhone owners to suddenly start carrying iPod touches again. If it's for the core couch gamers, they're not going to be impressed with the seemingly underpowered hardware compared to what's already on the market and weaker 3rd party support . For me it's because they're the same price as their physical counterparts (in some cases more expensive) and if I'm going to pay full price, I'd rather own something physical for my money.
I disagree as I have thoroughly enjoyed the game, but you've probably made the most competent argument against Driveclub I've seen, so you get a like from me.

Let's be honest here though. Nobody is counting on this to be their primary gaming device anyway. I'd be willing to bet most here already own a PS4 or X1 and we're not looking towards the NX to replace those. I buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games and the types of games they make with their bright, cartoony art style aren't going to be overly demanding from a graphics standpoint anyway. The NX will provide more than enough performance ...

It's also part of the frustration. Being different just for the sake of being different is just as bad, if not worse, than being derivative. I'm all for innovation if it meets a true need. Necessity is the mother of invention. Otherwise it just becomes a "solution" in search of a problem.
