It will cause all the hd-dvds that the 360 uses to become useless, and that would alienate the vast majority of people who wouldn't have bought it the new version, because their would be no way that publishers could release both BluRay and HD-DVDs for the same console. Well...it's easy to understand why people thought there would be another xbox. The average amount of time between console generations has always been 5 or 6 years.
Except, Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo have already stated that this generation will last to at least 2015 or the such.
