That is considerably better. The VO during the alpha was just inconsistent, at times he had the oddly timed syncopation we associate with "AI talking" voice, but others he just sounded phoned in ("Oh no *yawn* it's the hive").
And I do find it interesting that it just sounded like his voice in the Alpha, but the trailer adds a slight amount of reverb and processing in this trailer. Maybe they just did a cold read for Alpha gameplay sections.
I didn't see anything in the Alpha that redefined any genre, but it was a solid, competently done shooter, with some interesting and deep lore/world-building, and varied RPG elements. I came away wanting to play again, and had a blast just grouping with a friend and running in loops making head shots. That's all I'm looking for from Destiny, some place to have a blast, and I'm in there day one.
You haven't read much about the tech improvements, have you?
@randomass
That's the joke.
Rayman Legends has a 90, 91, and 92 Metacritic across the top three platforms. Dark Souls II has a 90, 91, and...92...across three...wait a second...
If you're only going to use one metric to cast aspersion across an entire half-year, at least appear to have done a bit of research.
Yes, because Neo made sure to block all those empty shell casings and wore his sunglasses cockeyed.
Maybe I'm too jaded or cynical to even care about Madden, good or bad, anymore.
Can we actually navigate through the environment now to circumvent enemies, or is it the same street corridor setting with tons of open windows that we can't climb through...for some reason?
That stupid trench coat connection across the chest looks even worse in live-action.
Lovingly crafted jiggle physics have been a thing since Dead or Alive on XBox put the "jiggle age" cheat in. Those girls should have knocked themselves out with those things.
What's worse is you can tell they tried to make it emotionally impactful, but failed. Like, fell flat on its damn face. The Defalt section, Clara, "tension" while getting T-Bone, it was just so uninspired.
They'd probably bank it in your wallet.
@spacecat
A publisher lowering the price of a product before it releases is suddenly a "180"?
For the people that thought this game was going to be "too gritty/mature", you can still tell this is a Kojima game. Pick up sheep to have walking around your base, cargo drops on people to knock them out, and even little Easter Eggs like the Mario sound when he used the fulton on the POW.
Wii U? This (these?) guy(s?) claimed the XBox 1 beat PS4 each week in March. At the end of the month, not only had the X1 lost overall, it's week-over-week sales were lower during the March NPD period than previously. That's how you really pinpoint how wrong they have been.
lol Chartz
You missed the top draw, the game ran smoothly and with no lag. This thing basically put Battlefield Hardpoint Beta to SHAME for running so bad, and lots of other games run worse than this "alpha" did. If Bungie puts this much attention into the playability, the release version will do well.
Destiny Alpha Beta?
I don't think that means what you think it means...
Sony has been quiet, but how could you possibly determine they've been underestimating MS when they haven't even showed their conference yet?
And PS3 won last gen everywhere except the US and UK, but MS started strong and petered out, whereas Sony started very slow and picked up and carried momentum into this gen.
For people saying the PS4 has been disappointing, have you played through a console launch before? I've never had THIS many games to play 6 months into a generation.
I remember some places railing against the PS2 launch games, I stopped reading gamerevolution.com because they wouldn't stop sucking off the Dreamcast.
I'm a fan of big, hyped games getting pre-release gameplay to give people a more informed opinion. As an example, I played Titanfall beta, meh, not a fan. I played Destiny, I'm going to buy it. I learned more about the gameplay concepts from those three or so days than all the media they've released elsewhere.
Then there's Battlefield Hardline beta...*takes a breath*...will steer very clear of that laggy, buggy mess. Pre-release gameplay works for me.
