I'm glad they're doing a wipe. Trying to shoehorn old (even near final) data into a new build can transpose all kinds of gremlins. They say they've been tweaking lots of aspects of the game, I'd hate to log into a character that was stuck at a certain level of talents or something else weird.
The Digital Trips were kind of interesting, in that they gave you a bit of variety in the gameplay. That said, I would have much rather they removed them and put those resources and hours into a physics system that wasn't hilariously borked and a story that made me give a little bit of a care about the characters.
I've been saying for a while that I'm a fan of pre-release demos and betas. I played Titanfall and was less than impressed. I played Destiny twice and can't wait to play officially. If I'd had Watch_Dogs early, I wouldn't have bought it, etc.
Kratos is just about the perfect example of protagonist not being synonymous with "good". He doesn't care if he ruins the whole world through floods, plagues, or anything; he wants to kill the gods for pure revenge. I love GoW, but he is not a good guy.
For all the people that complained about how generic the beta gameplay was, such as "only 4 weapon types blah blah" and limited talent selection, does this video assuage your fears in any way? I'm not one to usually try to hold off spoilers on videos, but I think the prologue shouldn't be shown personally. I just started the PS4 version several months after playing it on PS3, and it was still an absolute gut punch even though I knew what was coming.
He mentions the "sometimes bland" story like we've actually gotten ANY story so far. We've done 5 or so story missions. We're still basically in the prologue, in Halo CE I don't even know if we would have made it off the ship yet. I'll reserve judgement about the story until we know what "The Darkness" is, when we meet the other two enemy races, maybe the traveler will wake up, but I'm definitely not going to jump to conclusions yet.
I had a Shingen-C with 55 Atk and a modifier "while aiming down sights, this weapon fires slower and does more damage." That was a very powerful rifle, and I enjoyed it a lot. But Another Auto rifle with higher impact, and a very high impact Scout rifle were used more often and more efficiently. If I had found that same Shingen with higher Atk, I likely would have used that.
So this is a whatculture article, I'm going to guess that they give you individual pages for each entry so they can falsely inflate their click through rate for ad revenue. How close am I?
The difference between playing with randoms, and playing with 3 (even halfway competent) people on chat is staggering. I don't even try to pug Devil's Lair anymore. I'm tired of getting morons that just run random directions and die every 15 seconds. Did you know there is a "Medic" medal you can earn inside? Neither did I until I got it. I must have revived those guys 15 times or so.
Yes, the compression artifacts alone make this look worse than the PS3. The 720 vs 1080 debate is secondary to Youtube's player quality.
I'm not sure the gameplay section he described is even five minutes. He might have spent more time watching intro cinematics than playing, but still felt that was worth writing about. Having a non-FPSer play your FPS beta sounds like a good way to broaden your appeal, but at this rate he might not even get to the next mission.

The site is referencing April data, while you are looking at more recent data, but the site is using a bit of a conflation of terms. PS4 sold 7 million consoles as of early April, X1 shipped 5 million at around the same time.
The previous stated figures had the X1 shipping 3.9 million at the end of December, and selling 3 million. MS has given no new sales data that I've seen, but officially claimed 1.1 million consoles shipped in a 3 month time period.

Looking at the details really shows how much care Polyphony puts in their cars, I see this most blatantly in the F40 taillights. The Forza lights look like basic clear plastic discs, with an almost mirror finish, while the GT6 lights very clearly show the ridges and diffused reflections that real taillights display.
We also have no idea how fast the X1 is selling. We know how fast it sold in its first month and a half at 3 million. They've been remarkably mum since that time (5mil shipped as of April), but no hard data* for units sold. Even Sony stopped reporting after 7mil sold.
