I would argue that Uncharted matched or slight was ahead if GOW as a franchise last gen in terms of popularity. U2 propelled the Uncharted franchise as the top Sony franchise last gen imo. I have a feeling that they will go this route for these reasons
1. Cost. There is no denying that the cost of making games has gone up substantially. If next gen devs have to create whole new pipelines to take full advantage of the new architecture/power it will continue the current exponential rising cost of making games.
