"Was So Close To Being Great Instead Of Pointless"

Anyone who has played CoD games knows no russian. It's iconic within the CoD series and within shocking game levels in general.

So they have unimaginatively directly copied the service from Elder Scrolls Online but without the NPC quest lines, unique world bosses, a large loot pool, straight forward leveling system, multiple regions, multiple factions with different faction tied quests and so on.

The subscription model of an mmo without anything that makes an mmo an mmo. Good thinking guys. It's sure to go over well..

Probably one of these "The 10 most xxxx" lists I actually agree with. There could be some more hidden gems but all these games were great.

From all the big praise/reviews it seems to be getting and no user reviews at the moment, this is an odd take.

Not really a waste if you enjoy the exclusives. I have the same plus an Xbox one X for the home theater that I had before gamepass was a thing. It's only a 'waste' if you regret your decision or are low on funds and struggle to afford them.

I bet a lot of people read things like this from IGN, polygon etc just out of morbid curiosity. Like seeing a gruesome car crash on the side of the road.

The third game for myself atleast feels lacking from a story aspect, especially with the antagonist. It feels like it's missing the Crystal Dynamic feel since they moved on and the new devs writers and designers just aren't as good. The third game had its moments for sure but man the last half to forth quarter just went of track I feel.

The writing and design

God no.
The original team have all split and under EA's banner I'd rather just let it rest. I don't have confidence in EA's heavy hand to not just tarnish it further.

@Smokehouse
Yeah mate I know they are self regulated. I was making the comparison in that they seem to judge and rate based off a video briefing and a write up and never actually play the games themselves.

It's a government branch mate. Much like Americas ESRB, I'm pretty positive they don't play games at all and just rate thing based on a glance or a write up.
The inconsistency between mediums make no sense at all. For example, I heard Joker was rated R in America but here it was rated MA15. Movies that depict all sorts of drugs, violence, rape or whatever else are all good but when it comes to games they tend to mark it up way more.

All that said, for t...

From the article.

"To take a recent example of similar game design, the Souls-like title Code Vein isn't so explicit in many of its mechanics. For instance, one has to go out of their way to navigate the skill descriptions in order to learn how to parry and dash; two very basic actions that should be taught organically through the game.

In theory, games of the Souls-like genre shouldn't be willing to embrace the chaos of minim...

Wildlands was the same, which is the issue I have with it. Wildlands was very repetative with basic Ai amd some pretty corny writting.

Breakpoint adds a stealth system, a usless gear score system and doesn't really build on wildlands too much more than that. They are still fun coop for a very casual romp but it's far from what it could and should be for a sequel imo.

Like I said. Other press here in Aus have said it's not playable. Read the article.

The company doesn't have it's "mojo back".

My guess would be that since it's been a while since release and the corporate side is now focused on making money off more recent releases that the boot has come off the neck slightly of the battlefront team. That's all a guess but it has seemed recently to be getting a lot more praise with the added content and star cards/perks only able to be earnt through gameplay with lootboxes removed.
