I think the general sale thing is possible. Everything is so late it (imo) it is starting to look like distribution delays are the reason we haven't heard any days and price yet. And the cod trailer suggesting staggered releases supports this.
Neither MS or Sony are going to give out price and date until they are certain they can deliver.

I think people do also forget if you have the same game that are on both and you want to play it online (lets say PUBG as an example.) Then based on a years worth of subscription time (at full price) it cost nearly twice as much to play on the Xbox GP. That is a FACT.

As much as people think this is all cloak and dagger secret stuff with codenames, MS know what Sony were doing and visa versa. If S exists as it seems then a dev kit MUST have been in the wild for some time or at least developers would have had knowledge of its existence for some time, which means Sony will have caught wind of it. Your spot on, its not just those "call of fifa" players either, low income families etc will also have to suffer the increase in price, its £49.99 to £72 minimum for a year now.
People will tell you that its all about value of ultimate.... but its only value if you can afford it or if you are going to use it.
Its not like you can currently play FTP games or gamepass games (online) without forking out for Gold.

To make value of games devs add new features, bigger worlds, entire game modes. we are beginning to hit the restrictions for this gen, xbox will hold themselves in place (first party wise) and not progress except for graphics.
another example is the idea we wont have hidden loading points in maps (e.g. an elevator in division 2 or the door opening for resident evil games) ... for MS first party you WILL have these, because they need ...
