I haven't read the article yet, but everyone should recall the updated Xbox design on the game cases and new Xbox 360 were somewhat confirmed by an Italian source. I can't remember exact details but I just thought I'd mention it haha.

The last year especially, people were very disappointed when there was not even a hint of next gen at E3 last year. People have been waiting for new consoles for a while. I know this to be true at least in Canada, there's a lot of people that want them and most people I know were early adopters of either PS3 or Xbox 360.

It's hard to say, actually I think I agree because all things accounted for it sounds like Microsoft will unveil their console and the design of the console itself soon as well. I can guarantee that based on Major Nelson saying what he did about PS4 not being actually there. So I guess it would make sense for Sony to continue the hype train and show the console just before Microsoft's announcement to shut up the people that kept saying it has to be shown!

I am certainly not defending Sony but I know from experience (with Xbox Live) that sometimes things happen from time to time. This goes for anything really, not just console companies. While it should be uniform and unobtrusive (like it usually is) there's always the chance that something can be overlooked or unaccounted for that causes this to happen.

As much as I would like to believe the PS4 is able to let you play as soon as you start the download, I think maybe it's more a figurative statement but who knows. Like Snookes12 says, the whole Gaikai thing may make it possible..

In my opinion:
PS4 was announced first. This coming generation has been VERY anticipated by pretty much every gamer out there (well at least me) for the last year or two so it's obvious why people are in a frenzy about the PS4. The PS4 is the only console we have solid information and exciting things being announced for it, which we can get hyped about and continue to talk and create buzz.

That does seem to happen. Last time there was downtime I was back on Xbox Live before anyone on the east coast was. Sometimes it seems like my location (Western Canada) and West US have less trouble when Xbox Live goes funny for a couple hours or a day, than people in the Eastern region of North America.

Stop spreading your propaganda that's not even true. I've had Xbox Live since February 2006 and there has only been two times I have been without Xbox Live for an extended period of time...48 hours to be exact. Once cus I got a 48hour ban for having a sexual inuendo motto on my profile, and the other occasion was the 48hour downtime in the summer of 08 I believe where they were doing scheduled maintainance.
