I'm not making excuses, I'm stating an opinion.
I love Andromeda. I really don't like JRPG's or anything overtly japanese like Anime for instance.
I'm fairly confident I know which one I prefer without playing both of them in this case.

They have always done weird things with version numbers.

I have an Xbox and a PS4, that has nothing to do with anything. JRPG's are just garbage.
And maybe since you're so quick to judge my opinion of a game I haven't played, you should take a look at your own reaction to one you haven't played.
I don't care how many meaningless scores you list for me, Andromeda is sweet. I love it.

One of them is a great sequel to a hugely popular series of games.
The other one is Persona 5.

I think you nailed it.
It started small with people saying the characters were all ugly, then from there it went to animation, lip syncing, and by the time the game came out it was terrible and broken and everyone needs to click here to read all about how bad it is!!!
Then people that believe all of that, and continue to spread it around even if they haven't played it themselves. It's like an avalanche. Once it starts it just keeps getting bigger...
Except that it downloads and updates everything in standby. So I haven't wasted anything.
If I turned it completely off, think of the hours I would have wasted having to wait for updates to complete.
The equivalent cost of leaving on a nightlight doesn't bother by comparison to wasted time when I want to play, of even if I just want to watch TV.

At launch it was definitely deeper than that. I almost never play online on PS4 so I haven't went looking for it for 3 years.

I'm only 20 hours in and I've stopped checking in with him when I make my rounds around the Tempest to talk to everyone. He is so overtly gay that it is off putting.
The shuttle pilot in three was the same way, I just quit talking to him.

Background images are a complete waste, in my opinion. You are using the interface, navigating through icons and need to be able to see and read all the info presented to you. The background never needs to be anything but a solid color, because you are focusing on what is IN FRONT of the background.

I would have to change my settings and try this to see what you mean. I've never used anything but standby since launch day. My Xbox has been on or in standby for over 3 years at this point. It's never been fully powered off for anything longer than a few seconds to do a restart.
Have you looked in the settings? Did the update maybe change what you have set as the default behavior? Like I said, mine has never been anything but standby, so they could have change...

Destiny was amazing. It just wasn't what a lot of people wanted it to be, or thought it was going to be.
The story was chopped up and pretty rough, but the gameplay was absolute perfection, and the loot hunt was as good as they come.
I disagree with that. The real ending was the real ending.
The DLC was more of a continuation teaser for the next game that sadly has never happened yet.
