Yep and because people hated on it so much we got a super conservative GeoW4. So even though I think a change in formula a la GoW could be great and really revitalize the franchise, the core fan base seem relatively averse to change.
Well Dying Light was a blast, SoD was a surprise hit, and Days Gone looks promising as well. Seems like the idea has some potential. While an open world design would be a step too far imo, the next GeoW definitely needs more than just a fresh coat of paint.
You’re getting downvotes like crazy but I’m with you on a dramatic change. Open world would be a step too far imo but if GeoW took some inspiration from the open-linear games we’re seeing like Uncharted, TR, and GoW I think that could be great.
I wouldn’t go as far as character stats but customization to play style would be great, things like armor sets, ammo types, gun mods, maybe an expanded melee system. And I 100% would like to see GeoW get that horror vive the origina...
Clearly people missed the sarcasm
Hardy, Momoa, Gerard Butler, or Djimon Hounsou could all be good, but I don’t see a film adaption going well unfortunately
Dude great features, no games tho. Not buying a game console without games.
Agreed Spider-Man is gonna be special-and so will Detroit, but QD games are often polarizing. But ya gotta love Sony’s willingness to take risks and invest in a variety of projects
Or... or maybe, there’s a consensus that more quality exclusives > less quality exclusives
Idk man I’m personally more excited for GoW and obviously the bar has been set very high, but I have a lot of faith in Insomniac to deliver a special game. Look up some gameplay on Spider-Man, the fluidity in navigation and combat looks outstanding.
“My name is...” Every time I see this avatar haha
I watched the DF analysis and just that footage left my jaw on the floor several times. It was absolutely stunning but I wouldn’t recommend watching it, it’s supposed to all be from early on in the game but it still felt too “spoilery” imo
This guy... lol
Agreed it just depends on the game. Which I guess isn’t really unique, every genre has its winners and losers. Open world games offer an unparalleled level of immersion when done correctly save maybe VR, but that tech is still developing.
GoW is gonna be phenomenal. Can you imagine if Bloodborne didn’t have loading screens
Haters gonna hate
I’m extremely happy with how the new game is coming along, but much like the motivation to make dramatic changes in gameplay and setting Kratos had become stale as a character. More importantly Kratos had always been very much a one note character emotionally, and an attempt to evolve/change his image after like 6 games would be arguably more difficult then just starting a new saga with a new character. But thankfully SSM seems to have pulled it off, and I’m excited to get to play as Kratos a...
BoTW is a good game but in no way did it revolutionize anything. TW3, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, GTA, RDR, AC etc... there have been many fantastic open world games. BoTW obviously took inspiration from these games, which is fine.
Variety is among, if not the greatest strength for Sony’s first party lineup. Ninty and MS constantly rehash the same old franchises. Sony constantly invests in new ip’s
Those are definitely both solid titles, but If I could’ve got Gears on PlayStation I don’t think I would’ve bought an Xbox this generation
