I second that emotion. And also Dice's frostbite 2(*Mass Effect next-gen) engine really show as well as dictate where vidgames graphics are heading towards.

The Dual-shock.v4 needs to do just a few adjustments.

1)Fix those L&R/2 Triggers to make them feel more like actual triggers, like those "REAL TRIGGERS" inputs, but not just so wide.

2)Since I play both xbox & PSX, The x360's controller does make the DS feel a little smaller in hands, I think they need to stretch those handles a bit longer. A tad closer to the "outer pad" of the palm.

*And NO!, I don't mea...

Read the reddit article link, and it doesn't make me feel any better. The guy is not saying anything different than the article link a the top of this post. The neXbox is using slower DDR ram with more volume and the orbis is using faster GDDR ram but less of it. To me, that's still a DEAL BREAKER. Ask any self taught pc builder and they'll tell you in the long haul, for multitasking & gaming, hardware built with more RAM is far more beneficial, even if the RAM happens to be s...

Don't know if this latest rumors are true, but if it is?

DAMN YOU, SONY!!!!! HOW could you GIMP on the orbis's RAM spec after all the complaints game devs were griping about all through this gen? Only 4GB? You fail!! you fucking failed it again! I don't give a rat's ass how super fast is GDDR5 RAM is, It's still only 4GB!! It's RAM capacity that benefits vgaming in the long stretch, not RAM speed! Ram speed only benefits CPU/APU's & GPU's h...

Cell is a very capable Vgaming solution, you say? then you should read this then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Now on to my response,

Thats why I said "vidgaming dev society AS A WHOLE" I know 1st party devs got the cell processor figured out, but the "vast majority" of games coming out this gen and well as next-gen and so on comes from 3rd party devs a...

It's GOOD that Sony is not totally abandoning the cell tech entirely. The tech has astronomic capabilities and as long it's tech is used for SERVER and other broadband streaming tech purposes and NOT as a gaming solution, than fine, keep developing it to it's highest potential.

Just don't use it's tech for a Sony video-gaming platform AGAIN! At least until the vidgaming development society as a whole is way more better acquainted with it's unique tec...

I don't believe ANY Ps Orbis games will run in full 4K. At best they will be either 1080p or sub 1080p games up-scaled(*stretched) to run on 2k or 4k HD signals.

Well 1st of all, Sony wouldn't be in the gaming industry, back then, Sony's boss wasn't the least bit interested in the game console biz. It was all because of ken kutaragi's boss wanting payback for Nintendo betrayal of "the deal" by back dealing with, I think Panasonic. That's when Kutaragi's boss was pissed and gave him the go-ahead to create what we know as the PSX/PsOne console to compete against nintendo and defeat them.

And Microsoft w...

Well, since all these articles are mostly all rumors and gaming industry speculation, until we read/hear from the horse's mouth, (*ie, microsoft/Sony/Valve) we can't really assume anything and just blow all this stuff off as bullshit. But me personally, I think.

1)Sony's final spec will be an "locked" AMD-FX quad core APU(*I hope sony up it to an Octo-core/8 core, better to compete with the nexbox rumored "durango's" 8 core specs)

Man, has tech came a long way since those days, But all things has a beginning, So we should pay our respects. So Thank you Dr. B. Widrow, for the beginning.

Come'on, The Crytek CEO was only speaking hypothetically, I don't believe he really meant consoles should get 32gb, But he was clearly referring to the future, there no telling how much video/graphic memory will be needed to run
the highest end PC & console games 7-8 yrs from today. We don't know what were going to see or know for sure how much of video/graphic memory or the type of hardware will needed to run them properly.

But 16gb to 32gb whatev...

CrossfireX w discreet GPU doesn't ease graphic workload off the the APU's GPU? Damn, then whats the point of even suggesting a another GPU in all those AMD advertising vids.

I'm not sure I like the fact that the orbis might not have a discreet GPU and only relying on the one built in the APU. I figure sony decided on this to help keep hardware cost low, but......mmmmphh.

Godmars290, the next-gen consoles are more closer to PC's then they EVER BEEN, hardware wise. Review their specs again, the the nexbox is practically a locked mid-range desktop, And the the orbis is being designed based off "off the shelf PC hardware", check it again dude.

Would be nice if one of these HD-8xxx GPU's would be one of the chips Sony picks to serve along side the PS Orbis's derivative A-10 apu using CrossFireX support.

16Gb would be the maximum capacity of memory supported for a x86-64 bit chip-set, But the rumor for the supposed dev-kits on both orbis & nexbox was said to up to 16GB (*8-16 for the orbis) and since dev-kits are said to have up double the amount of memory for debugging purposes, and YOU say you want the orbis final specs to have 16GB, Won't that mean the dev-kits memory cap suppose to be up to 32GB?

And another thing about this square enix tech demo, I really hope al...

"I understand it being in a PC as you do multiple application running at once but is 8 gig really necessary for consoles?"

HELL Yeah, YOU gotta understand, consoles are no longer just GAMING MACHINES, they also secondarily function as Digital Multimedia Entertainment systems. So this is just another reason that RAM Capacity is VERY Paramount for the ORBIS & NEXBOX, More RAM means more smoother multitasking as well as better looking games.

4853d ago 8 agree0 disagreeView comment

Well, They say next-gen Nexbox & Orbis will both be running x86-64 bit chip-sets. And the last time I checked, a 64bit chip-set supports up to 16GB RAM so even if by FATE's WILLING, both consoles get 8GB of RAM, The consoles chip-set STILL wouldn't be fully utilized to it fullest memory capability.

My worry is for reason #4, remember SONY, is not designing the HARDWARE this time so their expertise won't apply for the FAILER RATE for the orbis.
