Is it multiplayer of single player? I was in the BETA so i wont bother if its multiplayer
reviews are a matter of opinion, dont read too closely into them. MGS4 will be an amazing game and will surely get 10/10 from other reviewers.
But....
I hate cut scenes, and i never pay attention to the story in games, i just wanna play the game. I may have knocked a pount off in a review for over-emphasis on story (its a game not a film remember). This does put me off MGS4 a little but i will still be getting it.

.. but i beleive Gears will be the better game. Only because the first one was better than resistance by miles and has a huge fan base. Gears is still in the top5 most played games on XBL, 18months after release. I really doubt resistance is still played as much, i traded mine in.
All you guys saying it was over hyped should look at yourselves for falling into the hype trap and buying a game you dont really like.
Now you are all trading it in for MGS4, another overhyped game you will all hate if it doesnt suit your tastes (i dont like the sound of 90 minute cutscenes and MGS was never a great series for me so im not getting it)
I love GTA4 though, its a great game, best sandbox game since Crackdown.
they took the most popular map on the first and re-made it, a good move. I've no problem with that except mansion was my favourite.
i've had taxi drivers and even cops jack cars to chase me down, but it doesnt happen randomly

You better be able to skip them or i will be returning this game after a few hours. This annoyed me in the other MGS games, cut scenes you cant skip and those stupid radio conversations. I hope you can skip them, pleeeease, or it will ruin the game for me.

you're right, i didnt buy my PS3 for MGS4, but i will be getting it. It does look amazing in the trailers i've seen and im hoping its back to the class of the 1st one.
I just prefer the SC series. Less cut scenes, more playing the actual game and figuring bits out. I love MGS for the boss fights but the stealth bits are not as good as SC, in my opinion.
I agree with the blog, i loved the SC games. When the 1st one came out i thought it was the best stealth game available (better than MGS series) and the SC series only got better until double agent. It was ok but i felt that the third one (chaos theory) was the best of them all with its co-op levels.
I'll be getting conviction but i dont have high hopes.

You obviously havent played it. It's the most fun game i own and i still play it 18 months after release. So do a lot of people, its still in the top5 most played games on XBL.
Nothing is more satisfying than coming in from work and chainsawing some fool in half a minute or two later.
i dont remember being able to order squad mates around in the first game, but then i always played co-op and not single player.
I think i've played more hours on CounterStrike Source than any other game so i guess that would be my favourite game ever
im not sure how 60 players in R2 makes it a good game, i think COD4 with 18 players in GroudWar is too many.
Both will be good games and im not sure why someone like MediaStream above feels the need to list god points for one game against another.
MediaStream has obviously never played Gears, nor has he even watched the footage of the new one so im not taking his opinion to heart.

fair play, i did the same. I'm a pro evo fanboy, so i bought a 360 when PES6 came out on it, becuase it was the only next-gen system with a PES game on it.
I assume you now own a 360, as two of my mates are always playing FF on it (two version 13 and 14 i think)
i agree, but its mainly because the game makers are on a deadline (look how rushed and unfinished enter the matrix was) to match the movie release date, and they have to stick to the story. Lord of the Rings was great as a RTS because it didnt have to stick to the story in the films.
Oh yeah, Goldeneye 64 was brilliant.
I'll try the Bourne game demo tonight to see if the trend continues.
once you figure out that the camera has no issues at all (there was on the demo but not on the final game) it is a great game, far better than DMC4.
To say he didnt enjoy one battle he must be lying. I'm only up to level 9 but im loving every minute, and its not as hard as some of these reviews make out. I'd have given it 7 or 8 out of ten
