Isometric camera is still in for PC, not so sure about console.
They say that the old mod tools will be compatible with DA2. We'll have to wait and see about that one.
One fixed hero is in though but I won't complain as long as he's not a grey warden. Damn wardens...
Then disregard what I said.
That's the point. It's supposedly an open source one man show. Now imagine you gave that guy some cash and some staff.
That was some impressive damage modeling. Spectacular if you consider the circumstances.
I'm not really sure you are replying to me since your post doesn't really touch the subject I'm talking about. But let me just reiterate in case you didn't bother reading my following posts.
- I never said linear was a faulty system to begin with. I'm merely pointing to that using a linear gameplay and then trying to extend the lifetime of the game solely by multiplayer, is not an optimal way of using the game medias strength. Having said that, there's...
Oh, I will. I just need to get myself a tv again. Sadly my consoles are just collecting dust at the moment. But when it's all hooked up I will definitely check out UC... Well right after I've played through Yakuza 3 again. ^^
I guess I was a little fuzzy. Some of my favorite games are indeed linear, I just don't think we should downplay the user interaction and exploration. A lot of mediocre games could probably have been great if they didn't try to limit themselves to other medias narrative standards. Problem is that games haven't really found a working middle course yet.
I'm all for variety, that's why I'm concerned because for the moment a significant part of all release...
Well, trying to imitate the narrative structure from the movies is pretty much disregarding the strength of the media form. Railwaying the player through the story and trying to get make some lasting appeal through a separate multiplayer mode is more patching together a faulty system than using the strength of the gaming media. A separate multiplayer mode is not faulty in itself but if there's no driving force as to return to the singleplayer part then gameplay mechanics are probably lack...
Why not just grade the previews right away? That way we wouldn't even need some liberal hippie reviews to begin with. We could even revise the amount of text to accompany the score.
This months AAA game preview: 9/10 - It kicks ass! Buy it when released. Believe the hype train!
Looking forward to this. The only thing I'm the slightest worried about is if we will get the same kind of schizophrenic game play as the third game. I really liked beating up thugs one second and then, the other second, turn around and play baseball with the orphans. It was just such an odd experience. It doesn't need to be the orphans again but I really hope for some similar kind of distraction. Maybe managing some low level yakuza stuff or whatever.
Arbitrary scores has pretty much guaranteed free leeway for (some) game journalists to cram their reviews full with demagoguery and as many high-flown words they can come up with. Make away with that awful system already! You don't decide to watch a movie or read a book solely based on how many thumbs up it got, right?
If the game journalism is ever to evolve they need to focus on describing the actual mechanics of the game and not try to pair together as many adjectives ...
They should have bought Troika before the studio went bankrupt. But on the other hand, can't really blame them for that, since Steam was in its infancy then and Valve wasn't reeling in the insane amount of cash they do now.
Other than that, I have no ill things to say about them.
Oh the irony. ^^
I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The... party. With the... with the pants. Party with pants?
"Where the previous naval battles in Shogun 1 were “crap”, they are now equal to the land battles in terms of weight, complexity and development."
What? The original Shogun had no such thing. Coastal provinces were only used as an abstraction of troop transport by sea. You couldn't even build ships.
ETW and NTW fell a little short on expectations so hopefully third time's the charm.
Amen to that brother.
What did you expect? It's based on the same engine in order to get a shorter time of development and using that time to tweak instead. First game lays the foundation, the second one expands upon that foundation. If anything, this is what's actually true to its precursors, the development cycle.
More playing, less bitching please.
Awesome game, simple as that.
Walking down the never-ending stairs in SH2... Nothing would happen on the way but you just kept walking down the darkness and you knew that, of all places in Silent Hill, this was a particular bad place to visit. But then again, you didn't really want to stay in the nightmare above ground either... When you finally arrive you're greeted by nothing more than darkness and silence, save the faint echoes of your steps. And you find yourself wishing that you never had gone down there to b...
While co-op is nice and all there's also games that can be shared between several people even though it is one player only.
Most recently I've been playing Yakuza 3 with my brother and it proved to be a perfect match between game play and story elements, for both the gamer and the spectator, to enjoy. Once one of us got tired of playing, the other took over etc.
I also remember playing several rpg's with former girlfriends and it seems that strong stories ...
That's one tough lady.
