I think for most people, their reaction to violence is context sensitive when it comes to games.
When its not treated seriously, IE: GTA, Saints Row, GOW, Shooters in general, you are desensitised to it because nothing about it is real. I laughed my way thru the GOW demo and loved ever second of it.
But if you change the context of your game, violence changes its meaning. Without spoiling anything, I did some violent things in heavy rain, and I actually felt bad....

Kinda sad really. Looking back reading reviews of FFvII and FFVIII, the reviewers lavish praise on square for being the best.
I wish square would return to their roots. I wish they would actually try and outdo what was so great about FF7. The characters, gameplay, universe, combat system etc etc.

I just played the demo and that fight scene with shelby and the woman beater was pretty much the most intense bit of gaming I've ever experienced. I just stared at my controller for half a minute thinking "What the f*** was that!"
